Update to previous post...

The site plan was split into two site plans this past week to fast track this project.  Site plan #1 is for the Demo of the Extended Stay hotel on the site, excavation and construction of the underground parking levels.  Site plan #2 is for the tower itself.  Site plan #1 was approved, so this could be getting started any day now.  Site plan #2 is for the tower and is still going through hoops in the approval process.  Developers sometimes do this so they can break ground sooner.  It is much quicker to get approval for demo, site prep, excavation and parking than it is for the tower.  This way projects can be well underway by the time the tower site plan is approved.  Several big projects - like Block 71 - have done this so they can get underway much sooner than they would with one site plan.

We're still waiting for the tower site plan to be approved.  But the developer has released a new marketing video.  The last one linked to in two posts back was pulled from the project's website right after posters at SSP started complaining that there were no brown people in the video.  The original video link still works, so both videos can be compared.  The new video simply splices in some new scenes with previously missing brown people.

The site plan for the tower is still awaiting city approval.  The Extend Stay Hotel on the site was scheduled to close for Demo on July 21st.  But their stay on the site got extended six weeks.  (See what I did there.)  They are now staying open until the end of August.

Looking forward to seeing this one rise (albeit from afar). Frequent photo updates will be appreciated.

Hopefully this one will start happening in late September.  The hotel on the site is currently scheduled to close on 09/01.  So demo should start later that month.

September 3.  We have a start day - for demo anyway.  A right of way street closure permit was filed today for six weeks during the demo of the Extended Stay Hotel on the site from 09/03 to 10/15.  The hotel is now closing on 08/28.

This request is for the Demo phase of the construction project at 600 Guadalupe Street. The overall project includes the construction of a 67 story high rise, but this specific permit is for the first 6 weeks of the project relative to the demolition of the Extended Stay America Hotel prior to excavation. On Guadalupe Street - Northwest corner of the 6th/Guad Intersection - 1520 sf of sidewalk and 628 sf of bike lane. On 6th Street - Northwest corner of the 6th/Guad intersection - 2400 sf of sidewalk, 1360 of metered #712) parking, and 128 sf of unmetered area.

There has been no official word yet from the developers about a groundbreaking.  But here's the construction timeline summed up from info in previous posts:

08/28 - Extended Stay Hotel on the site closes

09/03 - 10/15 - Hotel is demolished

10/21 - 12/31 - Excavation and construction starts

Everything is falling into place for this one.  A public parking lot that shares the block with the hotel is no longer taking reservations or accepting long term parking contracts.  The hotel on site is now offering a whopping 5% discount on their last night in business:
