Moderator Note:  Let me rephrase, it was more noticing out loud, in that we sometimes see intentional trolling... possibly leasing agent/property manager at competitive project.  I agree that the platform is here to allow all views, which is why I've left the comments, but the platform isn't for defamation or commercial gain.  Again, just noticing out loud, but next posts should contribute to other topics or at least provide additional context.

I think they did a really good job giving an EIFS façade building some character with the different colors and mix of floor plans.

Overall, I'm not displeased with the project.  I do question the color scheme though - the white sections make it look unfinished and the choice of mustard yellow as an accent color makes me scratch my head.  More than anything, though, is the height of the core/elevator shaft sticking out from the top of the building; again, it gives the overall appearance that this building isn't finished.

This. I’ve thought this all along. I never have been a big fan of this building because of the way it looks unfinished.  I do however, appreciate the diversity it adds to the skyline with its assymetrical style. I feel the same way about Ascent.

I think the Ellis looks great and the signage is now up.  Looks like the mid rise units will be available soon for rent with the high rise ones to come later.  This evening.  The Homewood Suites hotel stands with its stairwells up and that is it.  Probably lost their financing but don't know for sure.

^wonder if there's any chance of the hotel site being sold and constructed as apartments/condos instead. It would suck to have a partially-built hotel sitting at the corner for the next several years.

Why would anyone want that to be apartments/condos alongside more apartments.... I know the economy is not in the best shape but I’d rather it be mixed use instead of just more living units. Diversify the land.

They have a ton of way expensive ‘normal’ 2bdrs and a crazy amount of 4-6k, even an 8k 2/3bdrs.

Charlotte has 20 morons who would pay 4000+ to live here? Give me a break.

Who in their right mind would lease here over what’s new on stonewall in 550, Novel or Ascent, Vue, Museum.

The amenities sound a lot like The Vue, don't they?  Maybe it's more about those things, plus being located right next to the Blue Line, than the specific location.

Sooo I could either go somewhere like the Vue where just the entry level units get you all Bosch appliances, 20 ft ceilings  and condo level construction for hundreds less.  Or splurge for 3/4 less square footage and "Hardwood-inspired" flooring lol. What are they smoking?

I mean, on the more expensive ones, we are looking at units between 2000 -2800 square feet. They are pretty big. I wonder if they have upgrades appliances.

Just like Novel Station (above Wholefoods), which recently changed their name to The Francis like a ninja...anyone know why the rebrand?  Anyways, their "penthouses" were going for $15k plus a month.  Crazy exp, however, it was lowered.  Rent is expensive here but i mean did we expect any different?  They will adjust accordingly if need be and yes ppl do rent those exp units out.  Location is not that bad and will only improve overtime as N. Tryon vision unfolds.  Tower is above 19k retail,  Publix a block or so away, light rail connectivity, 1st ward park.  Hopefully other plots get developed and the market st turns out to be something special.  I understand 4k-8k a month rent seems outrageous to some, but there's a lot of money in this city.  Melo Ball's rookie contract is 35 mil 4 yrs...4k a month is a drop in the bucket.  It's all perspective.

I didn't know that name change happened! But surely that has to do with the fact that Crescent sold the property that Japanese equity firm, right? I've been expecting a name change ever since that news story broke, since "Novel" is a brand specifically for Crescent's communities

I did not know about the Francis name change but Crescent sold those apartments and most of the time they change names.
