I still like tower no matter what the rest of you think.  It may be a while for we have another high rise residential tower of this height uptown.  The way it activates the street in a somewhat desolate corner of uptown.  Today.

Just noticed they’re painting some vertical portions yellow. This should help with depth and help give this a bit more visual interest.

This is definitely being nit-picky, but I'm concerned the split levels on the retail area create some odd people flow movements that disconnect them from the general strolling sidewalk. In the bottom photo for example, it looks like you need to make a u-turn to get into some of the stores. I feel like this subconsciously discourages casual browsing as you have to be very committed to going to these stores. It will also make it more challenging to have sidewalk dining / seating as the railing splits the space in half.

I 110% agree. I still contend that it's a huge mistake for them make this vehicular-accessible. There are plenty of ingress/egress opportunities, and pick up and drop off points, for cars on *three sides* of this development: why is a fourth needed?

More importantly, having this a completely pedestrian sidewalk stretching all the way over to the rail fencing would be *amazing* and do a whole lot more for this development's 'buzz' and tenants' success that a dumb driveway will. Think about the tables, tables, tables! any restaurant or cafe would be ale to set up there, looking across the way to the park... SMH

There's a big difference between a thru-street and making it just vehicle accessible. What they've created can serve many functions. For example, food trucks can easily line up along one edge to create a great rally experience that it's far more cumbersome on grass.
