The MDHA committee denied the concept plan for a three-story building to rise on the southeast corner of the intersection of Molloy Street and Fourth Avenue South and to house a bar called The Blue Parrot.

Does the article state why it was denied? I met a family member of one of the guys who was planning this and they seemed to have a good team together.

Nope, it was because they could not do the project and widen the sidewalks up to the downtown code.

MDHA, kept getting the address wrong too, they had it as 301 4th and it was 300 4th. This is one I am fine with it not happening. They could reinvent the current building there a s the smallest bar in the state like the smallest bar in the country that is in Austin.

Thanks! Was the ruling a surprise to the prospective bar owners?

Hmmmmm....with the news that Cumulus Media is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, perhaps they will be looking to generate some cash by selling their huge block of land at the SE corner of Peabody and 2nd Ave. South.  It is one of the largest blocks owned by one entity in SoBro.  My guess is there would be numerous suitors.  They could relocate their stations into a much smaller development somewhere else downtown, and use the tens of millions to help pay down their debts.

The block is in the center of this screen shot and notated with WGFX FM, which is one of the 6 stations that operates in their complex there:
