I think @LA_TN is referring to the proposal to renovate and restore the historic Trail West building and put an urban Walgreens on the street level.     There were a few council members and others who proposed an absurd ordinance to restrict lower broad businesses solely to honky tonks and boots.    Walgreens pulled out of the deal and the developer abandoned the renovation plan, with the result that Steve Smith bought the property, tore down the Trail West building in the dark of night and today we have this Kid Rock buffoonery.

The proposed Urban Walgreens would have been much better than what we got with  Kid Rock bar.  In a similar concern Metro historic commission approved a zoning change allowing a 19 story building on first ave n. near broadway within the broadway historic district with the developer and councilman saying with was going to be a house of blues and a quality hotel.  But in the end It too can be a kid rock bar and a ugly 19 story office bldg.   Our councilman and commissioners  are too political and do not understand the negative impact their decisions have on this city and its development.

Sounds like this is a school project.  His facebook page says he doesn't graduate until 2021.

The former Dury's Photography store at 701 Ewing Ave. and one-time CMS Uniforms at 717 Ewing that were purchased by the Natchez Group several years ago seems to be percolating again.  At one point it looked like they might convert the two buildings into a Brooklyn Bowl entertainment facility.  They just applied for a permit  for water and sewer line work on the properties.  The developers have not indicated exactly what will transpire, and are still finalizing what the finished project will look like.

This screen shot from Smeagolsfree's excellent development map shows the two properties highlighted in teal at the center of the frame as "Polygon 318."

Images released for Gulch-area project

Illume to offer condos, retail on Hawkins Street in Edgehill

AUTHORS William Williams

The locally based team planning a mixed-use building for the Edgehill property at 909 Hawkins St. — a site that hugs the inner-interstate loop just south of The Gulch — has released images for the structure.

Developers Steve Armistead, Jared Bradley and Meg Epstein are undertaking the project on 0.83 acres for which they paid $4.1 million in July 2018. Epstein said the building — to be called Illume — will offer 77 condominiums and possibly two ground-level retail spaces. Garage parking will be located underground.

The team has enlisted Nashville-based Fulmer Engineering for land-planning. Certified Construction Services, owned by the aforementioned Jared Bradley, is the general contractor for the project. The architect is The Bradley Projects, also owned by Bradley.

Relatedly, the trio in early December paid $2 million for a 0.4-acre property at nearby 806 Olympic St., according to Metro records. The seller was Dano Family Investment Services Trust.

The parcel is home to a nondescript commercial building last home to Carl Zeiss Vision and that will be demolished to make way for a new building, details for which are not yet ready to be disclosed, Epstein said.

Of note, Epstein, Armistead and Bradley (joined by other investors) last year acquired the 21st Avenue building once home to the Catholic Diocese of Nashville and are planning a residential development at that site. Details are forthcoming, Epstein said.

Looks like the small warehouse with the Johnny Cash mural at 300 4th Ave. South is finally going to come down to make way for the 3 story bar called The Blue Parrot.  The tiny .09 acre lot is sandwiched between the Bridgestone Tower and Hampton Inn SoBro. A permit for razing was granted today.

Kinda stinks.  I used to see a lot of tourists walk over there and get pictures.  Now it's a spot where all the Bridgestone employees go out to smoke.

Brasfield and Gorrie is covering the fencing around the lot at 11th and Church (behind the future Pins Mechanical) with their logo this morning. Anyone know what's happening here? The lot has been used recently by the 1200 Broadway concrete crew but they cleared the lot a couple weeks back. The lot is owned by REH Investments who lost out to Somera Road in buying the Gibson building. I'm sure they were trying to combine the two lots.
