L&L Nashville LLC has purchased the James Geddes Engine Company No. 6 fire hall for $2.63 million, and plan a 55-60 room Lord & Liberty boutique hotel.  The Victorian structure, located at 627 2nd Ave. South, was built built in 1895 and has housed legal offices for several decades.  The sale also includes two vacant lots just to the north (623 and 625 2nd Ave. South) for a total of .4 acre.  

Timothy and Natasha Drisdelle are the developers. "We know this is a beloved property in the city. It's a beautiful building," Tim Drisdelle said in an interview. "We are developing a new luxury boutique hotel brand … and we want to do that with historic properties. That is a key part of the image we want to project. It connects us to the local scene and that history and creates a unique experience you won't get in the new glassy, glitzy offerings."

Potomac Investment Enterprises of Maryland provided a $2.1 million loan towards the purchase, and Drisdelles are assembling a project team that will be filled mostly with local entities. 

"We’re looking for an experienced luxury boutique operator. We won’t be a mom-and-pop shop," Drisdelle said. "We know what we don’t know, and we're looking to partner with someone very experienced."

Now word yet on constructions costs, renderings for additional structure, timelines, etc.

I love that little jewel. Here's to hoping it's a tasteful re-rub, that building deserves nothing less.

Article was 99% about the former Apple employee and spouse and their inspiration.    Few details about the project itself and what is going to happen to this jewel of building.     To get 55-60 rooms there will have to be a sizable addition, I would think.

A mixed-use project is being planned for the1/2 acre empty lot at 1320 Rosa L. Parks Blvd. in Germantown by the same group behind Ludlow Flats (just now u.c.) and Ludlow Row (finished a fully leased) a few blocks to the west.  Cottingham Capital Partners has the site under contract, and hopes to close the purchase by the end of summer.  It is currently zoned fro 4 stories/45 feet (potential a 5th floor if step back design).  They wish to incorporate within the historic Germantown design guidelines.

Saw this article on News Channel 5 about the Downtown Antique Mall closing on May 31.  Did any of the other businesses in this triangle also get notices?  There was a posting here about the owner asking the city to condemn the street and two alleys so that it could combine the parcels.  Sounds like there is some movement here.

The move to abandon the alleys was started abiut 6 months ago. I do think something is up, but I hope and think the buildings will not come down. The owner from my understanding loves the older buildings.

Part of Nashville is educated; we have a number of good universities. The only place I ever felt relatively safe walking around at night was Venice, Italy.

Joel Pizzuti, whose family company is behind The Joseph Hotel,  is under contract to buy land within a couple of blocks of The Joseph, where he is aiming to create a development that could include office space, retail and residential units. The site he's placed under contract is less than half an acre in size and is located south of The Joseph, deeper into SoBro. The single site could be suitable on its own, though Pizzuti said he sees a chance to combine a few neighboring properties as well. He declined to discuss more specifics.

Rehab continues on the Ben West Library being converted into the Hastings Architecture HQ.  I believe a portions is open now.

The Capitol Hotel at 701 Union St. is looking at a 5 story addition for 24 rooms and more parking.  Studio A Architecture has been hired by Continental Inns of America.  The addition would face Polk Ave., across form the Ben West Library Building.

OK so I've driven under this several times. Appears like an actual bridge supports the edifice. Given that concrete bridges and overpasses last about 60 to 65 years, what does that mean for this structure?  I know that water damage, corrosion and fatigue from vibrations is much less than an actual traffic carrying bridge, but can anyone tell me how these factors into the future of this whole structure?
