The new owners of TheFontanel are proposing some changes to the 167 acre wooded site.  A lagoon and beach with a restaurant would replace the amphitheater, and a "Makers Village" would welcome local artists and craftspeople.  Additionally, there would be 150 new one-bedroom cabins, bungalows, and yurts throughout the property, mostly in the wooded area towards the back by the mansion. The latter would be converted into an event space. There would also be a new fitness facility.

Hotel guests would valet their cars and drive a golf cart to go to their cabins. Nearby, artists and craftspeople would have work spaces and possibly offer art classes to the community. 

They hope to start by mid-2020 and be done in early 2022.

Curious... does anyone remember a tower that was proposed for the top of the Music City Central transit hub? Were any renderings made public?

I recall residential being planned atop the building, but dropped due to a zoning restriction at the time that did not allow residential units that near the state Capitol building. I believe the restrictions were put into place after Capitol Towers was built, but have since been repealed.

Had to stop by my old office today at Gulch Crossing and took advantage of the view from the 8th floor.  Lots has built up since last time back I took pics in July.  Y'all should have no trouble identifying these as we have been following them all since last year. Enjoy.

Incidentally, I recall a comment about elevator shafts missing....was it Broasdwest?  Well, as you can clearly see from the views of the Amazon tower, the central core is rising as a concrete core.  You see this most often on steel framed towers as it provides shear resistance.  Otherwise, there would have to be diagonals in the moment frames....not desirable in tenant spaces, especially on exterior framing.  The concrete framing at Broadwest eliminates the need as the concrete frame provides adequate shear strength itself.   The stairs and elevator shafts will be more economically enclosed in 2 hour rated stud wall enclosures...shaft walls or conventional 2 hour stud walls.  Much more cost effective.

While I was in town today, I thought I might as well take a look at progress in the Rutledge Hill area.   The apartments at 3rd & Ash are just finishing up and actually look much better than I expected with the dark brown exterior.  Could have been worse.  The view from City Lights  gives a good vantage for the Drury and downtown as well as the 9 story accross 1st Avene.   Enjoy

Yes, it was a residential tower portion. I think there was a rendering with a tower included in the original drawing and then about a year ago there was another rendering with an addition onto the portion that is standing now. Seems they were both around 11 stories.

 

I have the renderings somewhere but finding them is a little difficult as I changed computers. They are probably on here if you go back far enough.

Fifth Third Bank Center (31 stories, 490 ft., Nashville's 3rd tallest building) has sold for $145 million (about $295 per sq. ft.) to The Blackstone Group out of NYC. It was last purchased by Piedmont Office Trust in 2017 for $117.6 million. That's a 24% profit in less than 3 years.  The building is currently 93% leased.

The 5th & Broad office tower is an example of using diagonal heavy steel framing to build the elevator core, rather than a concrete core.   It adds a considerable amount of additional steel to the project.

Flank, Inc. has finalized its purchase of the Valley Arts  Guitar building at 1117 Church St. (1.1 acres) for $21 million from Somera Rd.  Flank had previously bought the adjoining gravel lot (.4 acre) at 130 12th Ave. North from Somera  for $7 million in October.  No specific plans for the 1.5 acre combined property, but a Flank Spokesperson said the "a future building could include upscale hospitality, residential, office and retail options."

A permit valued at $203,000 was issued in October for the demo of the building, and that should most certainly begin now that the sale is final.
