Just got some insider info from someone working on the project that there will be a Ritz Carlton going in behind the JW Marriott. I can’t remember that being mentioned on this board. Is that new info?

Do you know exactly where?  The piece of land JW didn’t use...or the Cummins Station parking lot?

Not going there, but I do know where it is going. It was discussed it was going somewhere else at the Meet, but that fell through, but a new site has been selected.

Unless that site fell through, I dont think the Marriott site will work as they want to be closer to another big development.

Sure, if there was one big enough. A big part of their model now includes condos.

A building like that doesn’t exist in the downtown core of Nashville.

Bowie's rock 'n' roll themed bar at 174 Third Ave. North is nearing its grand opening.  $400,000 was spent on conversion within from Pirhanna's.  No opening date has been announced yet.

The first floor of Bowie’s includes a bar, a seating area and a central dance floor. The second level will be used for VIP guests and a game room. Bowie’s will offer themed cocktails that pay tribute to rock and pop music of the 1970s and 1980s.

The office building known as the Castner Knott Building (114 years old) at 616-618 Church Street, along with its newer 200 -pace parking garage, have sold for a total of $27.2 million to Linfield Capital LLC out of NYC.  It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.  It also has Morton's Steakhouse as a tenant on the first floor.

TALL BUILDINGS WEST OF 7TH AVE:

I’ve thought about this a few times over the past year, but decided to actually do some cipherin’ today.

It is stunning how much development is going on the “west side” of downtown.  If you draw a line through the heart of the city with 7th Ave. as the divider (from Bicentennial Mall on the north down thru Pie Town on the south), up until a few years ago, there was only 1 building taller than 15 stories between 7th and the western inner belt (Snodgrass Tower).  

To the east of 7th Ave. over to the river, there were 23 structures over 15 stories prior to 2017. Since then there have been 6 more built, and currently there are an additional 6 that are u.c. or proposed.  That makes a grand total of 35.

To the west of 7th over to the western inner-loop, as I stated, there was just the 1 structure of over 15 stories prior to 2017.  There have been 8 completed since then, and another 30 u.c. or proposed. That’s a grand total of 39.  So that means the entire skyline will radically shift to the west in the next several years. And it doesn’t even count another 8 or so that are most likely to happen but nothing has been formally announced yet (Highwoods’ Tennessean site, Flank building at Gibson Valley Arts site, Exxon Broadway site, Cannery Row, Circle South, etc.).

Midtown is almost as dramatic.  Prior to 2017, there were 4 buildings over 15 stories. Since then, 3 have been completed.  And now there are 12 either u.c. or proposed, with at least 1 unknown possibility. An almost 400% increase.

The transformation of the city’s skyline in just a matter of 7 years (from 2017 to 2024) is/will be stunning.

Well!! That explains why the 'mater plant suburbanites are so uptight about growth and tall buildings... ok... got that out of my system. Feeling so much better now.

Hmm. I was having a look at the Ritz Carlton site to see if there were any glamor shorts of their new properties and made it to the bottom of the page where I saw this image. If the Ritz Carlton ends up happening, we'll have one of each of the top Marriott properties except a St Regis. And all in close proximity to each other, too.

The Muse (5 stories,  51 units, a ground floor retail ) at 4 Berrien St. (Lindsley Ave. and Hermitage Ave.) has been OK'd by MDHA Design Review Committee.  Centric Architecture is handling the design.  No word on start date.

I hope they're truly affordable, but I have my doubts.

If they are doing an upgrade they will not be affordable in that neighborhood as affordable goes.

You're correct. Looks like that is just the stairwell that goes up another floor for roof access.
