Heaven's Door, the Bob Dylan-themed distillery being planned for the historic church building at 410 Elm St., may include a boutique hotel at 625 4th Ave. South, which the owners also have secured. 

"Our plan is to develop a boutique hotel concept that is harmonious with the distillery and art center," said Marc Bahula, who is teaming up with Bob Dylan on the project.  "In conversations, [prospective hotel operators] have been excited and have asked if the projects can be fully integrated," he said. "We have paused to say, ‘What could that look like?’ We want a bespoke concept and design."

"Our most likely course of action is to renovate the church proper as the art center and open it first," he added.

"There are a lot of components to this project," he continued. "We added some elements and subtracted others. We originally had designed a live performance space with raked seating and balconies. Now we have redesigned it as an all-purpose venue with high ceilings.”

Bashuala and Dylan have raised $35 million form additional investors for the project.  They have not announced a start date as of yet.

The structure at 1200 3rd Ave. North that is home to Germantown Cafe and Red Bicycle Coffee, is going to be rehabbed after tornado damage.  Built in 2002, the building also has six 2nd story condos.  An initial permit for $50,000 has been secured for reconstruction.

The warehouse at 635 7th Ave. South will be demolished via an $88,000 permit granted to Environment Abatement.  This will help make way for a mixed-use project of unknown size by Meg Epstein, he recently purchased the property along with the empty lot at 629 7th Ave. South. This is immediately south of Third Man Records.

8 permits worth $12.26 million have been granted to The Vista Germantown  (4 stories, 242 units) for rehab after the tornado.

The .23 acre surface lot along Bankers Alley that intersects with Printers Alley with an address of 215 3rd Ave. North is for sale at $4.2 million. The  lot is 32 feet wide and 172 feet deep.  With all of the redevelopment around Printers Alley, along with 7 new boutique hotels and 2 more on the drawing board, this is a hot piece of undeveloped land.

Carillon, the 4 story, 306 unit apartment development finished in 2016 at 1001 4th Ave. North will get $4 million in repairs on damages suffered during the tornado last month.

Taylor Place, Phase II (4 stories, 330 apts., 550 capacity garage, plus 81,000 sq. ft. of office space in two 2 story structures) will be moving forward now that SWH Developers finalized a $93.6 million loan from Wells Fargo.

Smith Gee Studio Architects has been announced as the primary tenant in the 2-story 602 Taylor building which is currently u.c. R.C. Mathews will be the contractor. A couple of new renderings below.

The Muse (5 stories,  51 STR units, retail on first floor) update. A $7 million building permit has been granted for Avenue Construction to begin work.

The 808 at Skyline Ridge (seven 2 & 3 story buildings with 178 residential units) on about 15 acres at Old Due West Ave., 1/4 mile east of Dickerson Hwy. seems to be moving forward. No renderings yet.

So a question which will reveal how little I know about Nashville: why is there so much undeveloped land around Dickerson Road? Wasn't it the main N-S highway through town pre-Interstate system? Seems that 100 years ago, Dickerson would have developed similarly to Gallatin Rd. Certainly the proliferation of old motels south of I-65 indicate that there was a large amount of traffic, but there's still so little north of that, at least till you get near Goodlettsville.
