Another STR project. Up close it looks pretty cheap. I guess it’s better than what was there before but this will be mostly dead space during the week and party central on weekends.

The permanent supportive housing is going to break ground in north capital north of the courthouses. This had originally been proposed by Mayor Briley, but Mayor Cooper has been reworking that with a better design and an accompanying park space.

The proposed Wharf Park may also include a permanent supportive housing component. And the historic school building would be renovated into a community center space. But that planning phase is dependent upon acquiring the site from the State and doing something like a land swap with MDHA here in Rolling Mill Hill.

Thanks, Brett.  This is all good news. Do you know if the site north of the courthouses is still behind considered at 10 stories with 100 units?  I would think if there would be accompanying park space that the city would need to purchase more of the surface lot land that surrounds that 505 2nd Ave. (NW corner of 2nd Ave. North and Gay St.).

The Dual branded HOMEWOOD SUITES/CANOPY BY HILTON at the old Yazoo Brewery site seems to be about to start as a lot of permits have been applied for. The projects across the street at 909 & 915 have also been getting some permit action as well. 

Those projects may well be starting soon.

531-533 4th Ave. South has fencing up for imminent demo of non-historic structure.  The Pizzuti Co. owns the property which they used as an office for the Joseph Hotel, and has been mum as to their plans here.

800 Broadway (circa 1899, 3 stories, 10,275 sq. ft.) has sold to Schreiner Development LLC for $6 million, which works out to $584 per sq. ft. The seller, Larry Edmondson, bought the structure in 1999 for $330,000. No word on Scheiner's plan for the structure.

900 Division will be a 7 story mixed-use residential project by M Cubed Development on .38 acre on the NW corner of Division St. and 9th Ave. South in The Gulch. M Cubed solidified the purchase today for the land today $5.5 million.  An existing nondescript/non-historical 2 story structure will be razed, and ground broken in the 3rd quarter of 2022. Humphreys & Partners will be the architect.  No renderings or further details available yet.

Last week I saw work being done on the interior of the former Colt's Chocolates building on the SW corner of Overton and Mansion, directly behind Barista Parlor Golden Sound.  I heard today that we may get up to three businesses in here: perhaps a restaurant of some sort and two other concepts.

Easter egg: If you look closely, you may see the name "BOND."

Edit: Because this is a lower quality image, you may not find the word "BOND" in the window of a unit in the Terrazzo building, but it's there.

One of the units in the rear of the site collapsed. My wife was walking the dog when it happened. Was a little concerning to see the framers scrabbling out as it came down. No one seemed to be hurt.

The Arcade (119 years old--one of the earliest shopping malls in U.S.) will have a major facelift from new owner Rob Lowe, who paid $28 million for the block long facility in April. Dryden Architecture +Design is in charge of the designs. The team will go before MDHA's Design Review Committee tomorrow (Dec. 21st) for approval for the exterior upgrades, and RC Mathews is the contractor.  Interior work is already underway. Renderings of entrances along 4th and 5th Avenues North are below.
