Wow, I am surprised and pleased at how this all turned out!  Can't wait to see what Nasvhille yards looks like in 5 years.

Improves the chances, no doubt. But there is considerable opposition to the plan from would-be neighbors. The manager of the Hermitage Hotel is leading opposition based on dissatisfaction with communication regarding Anne Dallas Dudley blvd.

This is good news!! Like many of you I desired the benefits of HQ2 while being terrified of its consequences, this is a perfect compromise. Enough high paying jobs to continue (with Alliance Bernstein) downtown’s explosion of office, residential, and retail growth, a definite increase of air service (particularly to SEA, DC/northern VA, and NYC), all while not being enough to destroy Nashville’s culture and turn us into another Seattle. Great job by the governor and mayor to help make this happen. 

Those of you who have more math and financial smarts than me, are the incentives fair?

My guess is as soon as the infrastructure work is done, if its at NY. The site where the bigboy is , is where the construction trailers are.

I guess the thread will not be closed after all just renamed.  That is great news for Nashville and time to widen some roads and start planning some kind of transit system.

God please no, we don't need wider roads. More lanes just promotes more traffic. We need bike (scooter) and bus lanes and more sidewalks and better timed lights.

This. The city "overhauled" traffic signals in 2016 and still I can't go more than 2 blocks without hitting a red traveling at the posted speed limit on OHB/Bell Rd.

Whoa! I wake up, check the news, and see this! Very exciting, and a great win for the city that will avoid killing it with an influx of 50,000 new people. This is going to be great for the office space market downtown!

Any lull that we thought might be coming for further office and residential developments downtown can now be set aside for awhile.  Heck, I wouldn't even be surprised to see a couple more large hotels announced in the not-too-distant future.   ; )

The synopsis is this:

Nashville is the bigger winner as far as the Metros go. The consolation prize will do more and better things for the city vs the other two large metros they picked. Washington DC and NYC metros will continue to grow many thousands of jobs. Those cities will have to contend with much higher cost of living, and just general congestion that they already have. Yes there will be a huge influx of people onto those areas, but they are already getting that as we are, but the impact of 5000 high paying jobs is tremendous.

We got the consolation prize despite not having a good mass transit system and only a few international flights. My take is Amazon sees a lot happening here over the coming decade. Whos to say those 5000 jobs could not turn into more than that in the long run. Add to that the announcement today of 600 new jobs by accounting giant Ernst & Young and the recent announcement of AB coming to Nashville. 

I do see the recently announced high-rise apartments starting to be finished in enough time to coincide with the opening of the new Amazon offices.

There may be a number of other announcements coming soon and all of these office buildings may fill a lot sooner than later.

Yes we have our flaws and hopefully they can be addressed quickly as time goes on. To name a few would be cost of living, homelessness, affordable housing and transportation.

Yes the 32 or so story office tower in Nashville Yards, not to mention the other two office buildings planned there.

This provides great company infrastructure for when they decide to expand in Nashville once Bezos decides to get serious about healthcare.
