I noticed the other day as I walked past the BB&T building little white paint marks all the way up the side of the building. I wondered if it had to do with the mural and now I think that it does.

Greenville residents will see van Helton’s mural unfold day-by-day beginning in March, 2020. While an enormous amount of planning is required for a work of art on this scale, the painting will be completed in only a few weeks. One of the most intriguing and exciting aspects of van Helton’s work is that much like graffiti, the subject of the painting is known only to the artist prior to the installation, and is revealed to the world day-by-day as he works.

Since we won't have any idea what he's painting, I hope there's some photos to track the progress of this journey! Should be fun to watch!

Doesn't it have to be approved by the City?

The lower building across the street is turning out nicely.  Any ideas who any of the tenants will be?  Would be nice to get a Trader Joe’s there or a retailer currently missing from the market and tends to set up in downtowns. Like Urban Outfitters. Or a food court environment like Ponce City Market.

Speaking of Ponce City Market, if I’m not mistaken the new A/C Hotel rooftop is designed by the same firm that designed Ponce City.

Doesn't look as though there is enough parking to sustain those types of enterprises. Just one humble personal opinion.

  • The Canvas consists of two projects: a 130,000-square-foot office renovation project at 301 College Street and a 48-unit, mixed-use building with retail and residential offerings
  • The Canvas Tower is currently being renovated. Canvas Lofts is under construction.
  • Canvas Tower's interior improvements are nearly complete and the property is ready for new office leasing. Work on a large-scale mural on the western façade is underway.
  • Residential and retail pre-leasing is underway for the Canvas Lofts.  The Lofts will include multi-family residences with ground-level retail and for-sale, single-family attached townhomes.
  • Both Canvas Tower and Canvas Lofts are expected to be completed and open in September 2020.
