Thanks for the response on the woodward properties.

I have to think that given the lack of investment in the Joe as well as the extra income generated as a direct result of the salary cap that a new arena is not far off... The joe is a dump these days, half of the time the scoreboard is broken, the seats have holes in them, the place looks drab. With all of the new venues in town and the continued investmenst in the Palace, its no surprise that the wings may sell out every game, but only have a 75% full building.

The Joe has been a dump for as long as I can remember going to games there. And I would say my memory takes me back to mid to early 90's. I think we will see a new arena very soon with tons of suites and all that jazz. I will miss the more intimate seating in the Joe. Having just one large bowl puts everyone closer to the action and creates a much cooler atmosphere. Perhaps they could take a page out of Ford Field's book.

A Conseco type place would be very cool. They have the suites but it looks like the fans are right on top of the action. Plus incorporating more of the Wings history is a must in this new building. Too bad the Lions didnt have to deal with that problem.

L, you seem to be pretty "in" with the detroit rumor streams, have you heard anything in respect to the possible development at Woodward and the Fisher as mentioned on detroit.com?

The small nugget they dropped over there is very enticing...

Has anyone else parked at the Greektown Garage recently? I noticed a sign on the doors that says the garage will be closed starting at the end of the month. Is demolition upon us? :)

oh crap, I better up my cell phone plan.... I tell all of my friends to park at that garage, they'll all be calling me up saying "where the hell did that garage go!?!"

The garage across the street from the church at St. Antoine and Monroe near I-375 isn't a free garage.

(I think we're just confusing each other here.)

I'm definately confused. Can someone post a map or picture of the one that is the proposed location. I know what ramps are being discussed, but I'm confused now as to which one it will be.

Both garages are free if you get your parking ticket validated at the casino; I've parked in both of them. I'm pretty sure it's the one across from the church by the expressway...but then, I could be wrong.

Wow, I never knew it was free. The last time I parked there (which was years and years ago) I had to pay.

I think it's only been about a year that the Casino started validating that garage's tickets too.

They also have limited free spaces across from the VIP entrance in the Greek Orthdox Church's parking lot for VIP Casino Guests with their Pantheon Member Cards...not when there are church services though and there only about 10 or 15 spots.

These both started around the same time..

The garage in question is the one on Monroe at the end of Greektown (on the left) right before you get to 375.

That's the only Greektown Garage I've ever parked at and for as long as I can remember, it's always been free...except for a quick stint not too long ago where they only validated after 6 pm or something like that.

This garage is the one that will be demolished, and last weekend I noticed the signs on the stairwell doors. The elevators aren't working either, so that electrical element might already be dismantled.
