Well UCF is now the only undefeated team in the state of Florida, and one of only 3 in the nation. UCF is very well looking like it could finish with zero losses, which if they don't let it into the playoffs, we could very well end up in a situation where UCF is the only undefeated team in the nation (or worst case, with them as one of two undefeated in the nation). Hopefully the CFP committee comes to their senses and gives UCF a slot if they win next Saturday vs Memphis.

Possible freeze on PECO funds may freeze new construction for UCF's main campus and UCF/Valencia at Lake Nona for up to a year. Thankfully, the downtown campus is uunaffected for now.

In "Breaking Away," frat guy Hart Bochner, upon hearing a team from the town will be added to the Little 500 bike race at IU, whines, "But sir! They're not good enough!" Nevertheless, The Cutters enter the race and the ragtag crew goes on to win

For most of the year, that's the attitude our Knights have gotten from the media and the CFP. Today, like The Cutters they proved them wrong with a perfect 13-0 season and a win at the Peach Bowl against a Power 5, SEC Auburn.

Charge On, Knights and an amazing class act by Coach Scott Frost and his staff. Great job!

UCF is having a parade at Disney  this Sunday to celebrate UCF's first undefeated National Championship football season

That $135/person parade is over in 2 minutes. Stage it by the courthouse on Sat and march it down Orange to the DP center and have a little rally there. Plain and simple. Do it Saturday at noon, since there will be nothing going on. Hell, just have it at the bandshell. Better yet, just have it on memory mall. Free parking, a bunch of free pizza and cokes and call it day. The Fiesta bowl parade was silly in my opinion, no locals, except a few oviedo yups, just all out of town marathoner's families. Like I said, 2 minutes long.

Yep - UCF is the only undefeated FBS team this year and beat Auburn (who beat 'Bama and UGA.) Until the CFP finally stops acting like a cartel and acts fairly for ALL of college football, we'll have to make our own determinations.

It is fairly common for schools to claim their own national championship in college football, Auburn had a committee to evaluate adding 3 new championships based on some past research that they were #1 in some polls, and Alabama added a number of them about 10 years ago, including one where they were ranked like #20 by AP. The NCAA recognizes them as long as at least one "NCAA Selector" outlet picks us as #1, some of which are computer polls and have UCF as #1, so it will be NCAA recognized.

Also getting the first Taco Bell Cantina concept in the region. That place is going to make so much money.

First, Dale Whittaker was approved by the state today and will officially be UCF's next pres July 1.

Also, a $6.6 million dollar contribution was announced today, the largest ever by an alum.

This is hugely important as when those with the most personal interest in the school are able to make big donations will be when the endowment starts to grow exponentially and you gain the resources to move toward the top tier of American higher education.

UCF is stepping up to the challenge of assisting disadvantaged students, another way a local institution is meeting the needs of those who see Orlando as an opportunity to find success.

60 Minutes will be airing a segment on the school's Gates Scholars program tomorrow night.

60 Minutes of course had previously visited Orlando to highlight efforts at OCPS' Fern Creek Elementary to help homeless students succeed.

Because we have so many entry-level jobs locally, we're going to be a magnet for those from around the country (and beyond) who come to get a chance to find the stability of a job and to help their kids thrive.

Our job as a community is not to walk away from those folks and close the door to those opportunities but to find ways to help them succeed. This is just one more example of us doing that.

A look at this year's projected UCF student body:

• 67500 students

• 9700+ grad students

• Almost 50% minority students (within my lifetime, Florida state universities were once completely segregated, so this is YUGE and reflects the diversity of Central Florida)

• 4.08 GPA for incoming freshpeople, a new record

• A record number of National Merit Scholars
