This is so cool. Our legacy schools in Florida like to go on and on about their history ( and it’s a lot different than you imagine - UF starting in “1853” is quite a chuckler  if you read into it - it didn’t even settle in G’ville until several years into the 20th century).

UCF, however, is now developing its own traditions including a family whose patriarch was in FTU’s first class and they have kept on going. They’re at the third generation now and have no plans to stop. They’ve also tailgated at Knight football games almost from the beginning.

Well done and Charge On!

Scott J tells us the long-planned UCF on-campus hotel, Celeste, is up and running. It’s a part of Marriott’s independent stable.

It has a restaurant, Aurora, which is probably why Scott decided to give it a mention.

Like so many other sites these days, Scott’s taking contributions. I know @AndyPok1 will be one of the first to sign up!

Has anyone else noticed that UCF President Dr. Alexander Cartwright, who was dropped in as a stealth candidate by legislators and their minions on the Board of Trustees at the last minute, is rarely seen since taking over the presidency, either? Especially given how visible Dr. Hitt and Dr. Whittaker tended to be. We can’t blame it totally on COVID, either. Interim president Thad Seymour managed to stay widely visible even as the pandemic descended on campus. It’s an interesting conundrum.

Of Florida’s colleges and universities, UCF was #3 last year in specialty tag sales (behind legacy schools UF and FSU) and #14 in specialty tags overall:

Keep in mind there are a number of other schools to choose from in addition to UCF and VC so there are even more in the cast participating.

Charge On!

(Our name really should still be FTU and we should be the Citronauts. But, that’s what happens when a liberal arts prof just off the plane from Cali to become our prez gets influenced by the wrong folks -and I say that as someone as far from a STEM type as you can imagine. Oh, well , we can’t be too hard on Dr. Trev - he also started the football team that has gotten us more national attention than we likely ever would have had otherwise.)
