Same issue happens for the pool at the nearby Encore.

If the renderings are accurate, the pool level of the hotel will align with the SoBro pool level and the hotel tower would be to the left. It will get some sunshine, but not a lot.

Winds can sometime elevate the beach chairs at that pool.   I wonder if the Centric is going to add a tunnel effect and make it worse.

Well... that's what happens when you build a pool in a big city that isn't a rooftop pool. Viridian and Skyhouse did it right!

I talked to the PM on this job yesterday. He said they are already behind schedule as they are having a difficult time getting through the rock. He said they continue to break chisels and bits trying to get through the surface.

I copied this photo from @downtownresidentpost above. That boxed in area contains the rebar for a cluster of piers. Don't know why it's boxed in, but it looks a bit like a crane base but I don't think so. Here's the other angle before the box was built around it.

It could also be where the elevators are going to be located.   The pilings and foundation look similar to when they were building the crane pad on Molloy, only a little larger in size.  I'm not an architect or an engineer, just taking a picture and a guess.

I was thinking elevators as well, as that side of the building is supposed to be mostly concrete/metal siding with very few windows

Definitely the elevator/stair shaft. It would be the base of the white strip in the rendering above.

It also gives you a good idea of how the rest of the building will sit on the footprint.  In the rendering above, note that the glass on the ground floor doesn't go all the way under the parking garage portion. That's because the garage will be cantilevered over a portion of what is now the sidewalk. Presumably the cantilevering is to provide a consistent building wall along Malloy in anticipation of it (possibly... HOPEFULLY) being realigned.

Drilling is complete and equipment was hauled out yesterday.   Spoke with one of the contractors this morning on my way to Corner Bakery.  They said they also have worked on Cambria and the Holiday Inn off of KVB.

I’m pretty sure Malloy is going to be re-aligned. I’ll see if I can find the site plan I got in the mail when they first started.
