so now in true Orlando fashion this developer comes back after initial approval from the ARB and changes the design AGAIN to even more of a box. And why would they not,  the ARB lets everyone walk all over them. Would be shocked if they didn't re-approved this load of crap. ARB simply has no huevos.

How is it more of a box?

Looks basically the same to me.

I'll take nearly anything on this lot but this is a let down for sure.  I'm surprised they tried to push this through permitting without going back to ARB.  Luckily, the Planning folks caught them.  I'd love to see the new ARB report.  It was really easy to download staff reports on their old website.

I mean... yes it's a downgrade, but I don't really hate it.  The wavy-ness was cool but felt too South Florida really.

I basically agree in that I don't hate it, but removing the curvy front really did turn it into more of a boring box.

Certainly the previous design looked/felt South Florida (Miami, actually), but I don't know if it was too much so.

A little bit of Miami style in Orlando is not necessarily a bad thing.

Whatever. Just build the damned thing already.

Orlando = architectural spirit killer

It’s not Orlando, it’s the banks providing the loans. Cambria isn’t known for being an upscale hotel bland. If it was a Kimpton, the architecture would reflect a different set of aspirations (and price points).
