Yes it will...will be interesting  how contruction actually flows as it can't be built all at once...so massive. Will they start in the middle and work outward or begin from one end to the other...

Art...everyone has an opinion. None matter any more than anothers...but wow that is some ugly stuff. But at the same time...it's cool that we are getting some fairly well known people here creating art for the community.

Hughes also discussed BridgeWay Station, a mixed-use development in Mauldin, planned around a Charter Spectrum building already there. The development is fashioned around a city Main Street style that would offer options in retail, restaurant and residential units in a walkable community.

Hughes said he would like to see BridgeWay open in 2021, fully built out and occupied.

“That includes a lot of things to happen that are not in our control,” he said. “But I’d like to think we’re close to an announcement.

“This is going to happen.”

Article in this morning Greenville News regarding the Swamp Rabbit Trail moving forward at BridgeWay Station. 

 

“Mauldin City Council this week voted to commit to the development of the trail, as well as a pedestrian bridge over Interstate 385. In a second vote, the council also agreed to an easement with Laurens Electric Cooperative and the company's sub-station partner New Horizon that would provide a path for the trail to reach the interstate from East Butler Road.”

No announcements or construction equipment on site. Could have fooled me. If it's not on hold then when is it going to start construction?

We have gone over this a number of time.  You do not just build a project like this with out first leasing out the space.  You need the retailers signed up already to get financing and also in many times you have to have them to even know what you area going to building so it matches their requirements.  Leasing up a project of this magnitude take time.  Most of the time developers would like to keep as much information secret as possible, most of the time you only find out about the projects because they need some type of approval for due diligence or to move the project along that requires them to file an application that is open to the public.  They do not owe you any announcements until they are ready to make them.

But to say that would presume that Phil Hughes doesn't understand the market, at least not enough to reasonably anticipate retail leasing prospects. Btoy's outlined the "process", which can have any number of permutations. There is a "possible world" in which this thing never gets built, but it's very unlikely that it's this world.

What's the timeframe for road improvements surrounding it?  I know some are scheduled & necessary for Holland & Bridges....would this contribute to delay of the development?

It it's going to be anything like Birkdale up here in Huntersville (CLT area), there will be a different mix of retail tenants than you'd find in most of these other shopping centers. But I don't know whether Hughes is shooting for that.

It got ummm...taller. Dang site is gonna have a bigger skyline than Greenville upon completion.
