He's definitely a good dude.  My first home was a Furman designed house in Huntersville, built in 1997.  I didn't love the look of the roof line over the front porch, so I sketched up what I did like, and lo and behold, he had his crew build it for me at no extra cost.  The coolest part- he continued to use my design as he built the rest of the neighborhood out.  Definitely a good dude.

Charlotte could use a lot more micro apartments. Single millennials moving here for work don't need a huge, expensive place.

Can I just say, the fact these fill an under-served niche in the market (smaller units) pushes this complex up to A++ for me. It may very well be my favourite project in SouthEnd save for maybe the Childress Klein tower.

This entire project gets an “A” from me. It would get a A+ if the parking garage wasn’t taller than the apartments itself but I can live with it. Great mixed use overall.

Agreed. One more floor on the apartments and this would be an A++. Still a strong A as the apartments should look great from street level.

Had to swing back by the Railyard today.  Even though the apartments are not as tall as the parking garage you will not be able to tell from street level only if you are in another mid or high rise.  This project looks great and we need a lot more no amenity micro apartments in this city. Plus most of the ground floor of the apartments will be retail too.

Wtf are they putting in those small spaces?!!!? Sure it will be hard finding tenants for those. Like those are big enough for a food truck....

Yes yes yes let's get some micro retail going! Little micro shops like that can increase vibrancy in an area so much even though they're tiny.

Its retail incubators. So they are small spaces for small businesses. You can do a lot with 1000 sq feet

Winnifred Street could be the next great shopping street one block of S Tryon and just 2 blocks away from Railyard is the Vantage Spectrum project.

Micro apartments still under construction and remember the entire ground floor on those apartments on 3 sides is all retail mostly small spaces.  North Italia if it is as good as it smells from the outside I will have to check it out.  You can smell it a half block away.  This is a great project.

All I see in these photos are power lines. Everywhere. It's a great building (albeit with an absolutely ridiculous name), but damn. The city should mandate/assist in placing all utilities below grade in new construction when this much density is added.

If only it were that easy. Unfortunately Duke holds all the cards here. They even have power over the city
