I think of Duke as an overhead railway: historic exemptions, mandated powers and responsibilities, legacy systems, resistant to improvements, Rights-of-way and ownership for generations, impossible to dislodge. Norfolk, CSX, Duke (and their ilk).

The Railyard really looks great so good I could eat it.   talking to some contractors EY will be moving in Jan.  That was announced in 2018 I think.

Here is a story about the micro retail spaces under the micro apartments at the Railyard.  Maybe this will inspire others uptown to do the same to get more locally based businesses on the streets.

I really like how the Railyard Roofline is light up at night.  I hope others (Lowe’s, Portman, Vantage, Square, etc.) continue to incorporate Aesthetic Lighting into their Buildings.  I think DFA Screwed up by not adding Lighting to such a beautifully designed building.   Hopefully they’ll correct that in the coming year(s) - even if they just add spotlights shining onto the Structure would make it more visible and better looking at night.

leasing office for the Railyard apartments has opened and construction is wrapping up.  Rhino Market opened off the main lobby but with outside entrance too next to North Italia.

Railyard is about to be marketed for sale. The number the brokers are targeting will be huge for Charlotte on a PSF basis.

The Railyard micro retail spots are a really big deal.

Here is story on some of the tenants signed up already.  We need more of this and uptown. Maybe divide some of the larger spaces into much smaller cheaper spaces.

Its a really great project, I enjoyed learning more for writing that piece. Micro Retail will continue popping up in Charlotte, theres a couple more projects considering it.

Apartments and retail at the building behind Railyard finishing up.  Retail upfits continue today at an otherwise quiet Railyard.    This project still looks great!

Last sign I first thought was one of those evolution of man graphics until I saw the small print.

More often than not I think the color schemes on large residential buildings aren't terrific, but I think this yellow, in conjunction with the 'industrial' and lighter grey, is just right. A.
