^^Still trying to figure out what the finished product will look like.  It definitely looks a bit different than the renders (so far).  Is there a side of the building that has the “finished” look?

That's exactly what I've been wondering with all of the various colors and textures.  I hope they're not going to end up with a whole bunch of shades of color when it's done.  I hope it's going to look like the bottom section of the 2nd and 3rd photo just above the pedestal but I don't see anything like that on the 4th photo and the pedestal section on that photo looks odd with the patchwork colors going on!

We definitely have a long way to go for the "finished" look, but Montana you hit found it in the second and third photos with the panelling. I think the tell tale on the cladding will be when they get to the corner of 8th and Lea because I believe that is the corner we will expect to see the copper tones the renderings were showing.

I think the true wildcard will be the garage pedestal. The renderings showed a checkered pattern and we appear to be getting that long Lea and possibly 8th Ave, but along Plamer it looks more like a "ribbon" style to the openings.

I agree! I know a lot of you think it’s art and maybe it is, if it was in front of the AT&T building or NES headquarters you might get away with it. But it’s just plain ugly!!!

There are verrrrry few of us that don't dislike Stix to the point to not mention dislike of the installation every time it's mentioned.

Stix will looks just fine once it’s surrounded by buildings.

That's what I'm hoping.  It makes sense to think of it as 'just some painted telephone poles'  when the most prominent structures in it's immediate vicinity are actual telephone poles, but hopefully once it's dwarfed by highrises it won't look so out of place.

What's perplexing about it is they spent $750k on it…and when it arrived, it was a series of telephone poles with instructions from the artist…and the city had to hire people to paint the poles to the artist’s instructions.   I would have done this for at least half that price. :tw_lol:

Didn't you hear?  The paint is made from ground diamonds and the wood is from trees that only grow on the dark side of the moon!

I wanted to laugh at this but then I realized this is what I get paid to do for roadways, buildings, etc.

Honestly it's borderline criminal what was done... $750K....

stix - the most expensive art sculpture in the history of Nashville. And THAT is why we complain. Ghost Ballet was $250k. Stix is the biggest con job ever

Thanks for the explanation. Agree that process was the key problem.  A path to value-engineered ‘art’.  The “artist’s” name and metro council members’ who approved it should be emblazoned in LED lights all over it :tw_lol:
