I have a feeling that this building, and the eventual Circle South/whatever Mainland decides to do on the One KVB site will help spruce up the roundabout. 

Metro also needs to replace the busted out lights with the chunkier sidewalk lighting/bollards they've been placing around the Music City Center.

Any of our property historians know what it was originally built to be? And just to confirm, when was the "Lafayette extension" built/completed? I've heard it was early post-WW2.

If you’re asking about that Imperial Insurance building, my earliest memories of it are probably from the mid or late 1960s. At that time it was Allstate Insurance-next door to a Sears Store, and an insurance company owned by Sears. I don’t know any history of the building itself. (Loopnet says it was built in 1953.)

Ah, so that makes sense. I do recall that Sears Store (It might have actually still been in business as recently as 1989). And Allstate was owned by Sears. That was likely their insurance storefront built at the same time as the store.

Making great progress on the garage podium. Large supports were being assembled on site in preparation of lifting up. It looks like they are completing the top of the garage (with the level portions being framed), but a worker on site shook his head no. Wonder if that is their way of trying to keep the site quiet on progress
