The 2 best online comebacks I saw on this:

When driver Ray Ciccarelli (someone I've never heard of, but I'm not a fan) announced he was quitting due to this rule and someone said they respect that he honors the Confederate flag so much that he also waved the white flag and surrendered to America.

When someone responded to NASCAR's tweet by saying that history will show they chose the wrong side in this war and it was pointed out that an entire country went to war 150+ years ago and proved the actual wrong side, definitively.

So we had a fire today at La Maison du Bel Fontaine. Fortunately, it was not major and confined to two units. Thankfully, no injuries.

We did get eight firefighters who arrived quickly and took care of things right away - shout out to OFD!  May I also report the eye candy was splendid....

*Checks for spenser's interview on Channel 9 eyewitness news*  "Lord Jesus it's a fire..."

Another one for the 2020 Bingo card.

Yeah there are still quite a few places in SoDo that would benefit from a Backhoe-spree.

P.S. You don't know what you're missing... a lot of today's firefighter-paramedic hybrids no longer have the meathead look. :tw_love:

Recognizing that times have changed and even attempts to update the brand’s image have not succeeded, PepsiCo’s Quaker Oats unit has announced the demise of Aunt Jemima:

I would imagine there are quite a few brands and logos that could use some tweaking.  I don't think you have to do a massive sweep for ANYTHING that could be offensive to ANYONE ON THE PLANET, but at the same time I think if we're honest about it there are some that maybe could use a modern eye of scrutiny.

This one is solidly due for fixing.

Oddly, some people tried a few years ago to take away the Quaker Oats man himself and found Quakers are proud of the logo, not offended.

Is it complimentary?  Is it offensive?  Is it mocking?  Is it celebrating?  Those are going to be big questions that companies have to ask truthfully.

Looks like the trend is continuing.....

Cracker Jack Changes Name To More Politically Correct Caucasian Jack

PLANO, TX—When ballparks finally open again, those standing for the traditional seventh-inning stretch will be singing some different lyrics to "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

After over 100 years of selling its caramel popcorn snack under the name Cracker Jack, Frito-Lay announced today that it would be rebranded as the less offensive "Caucasian Jack."

article-6386-1.jpg

"We are very sorry to all the crack---er, I mean, Caucasians we have hurt over the years," said a spokesperson. "Cracker is an offensive stereotype, and we must make sure that all foods and snack products are culturally sensitive. Think about all the white people who have had to suffer in silence as tens of thousands of baseball fans sang out the hurtful lyrics 'Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jacks.'"

"No more. The bigotry stops today."

The move was applauded by hurt white people, though they are still criticizing Frito-Lay for how pale and pasty-white the Cracker Jack guy is on the logo.

Hmmm, I’ve always been proud to be called a Florida Cracker and goodness knows I’m as white and pasty as Jack.

I thought it was The Onion at first but then saw it was another one. It was funny though. I love me some Cracker Jacks but the toys have been no fun ever since they got busted by the Safety Police.

I'm legit confused by the re-branding of Uncle Ben's rice.  He's like the friendliest, non-satirical fictional (I think?) spokesperson.  I remember looking at him as a kid and thinking how nice he was to share his rice with us.

I don't see any satire or degrading notions in him?  Maybe that's speaking from my point of view and I should ask my black friends, but he looks super nice!  Is it he Uncle part?  I mean, we all have uncles, but maybe that has a connotation that I'm not seeing from my perspective?

I guess even back in the olden days when they created the brand, they were savvy enough to not name it Uncle Tom's Rice.

It may also no longer be possible to “choke at Doak” (the ‘Noles really need that the way they’ve been playing lately):

City Employees "working while black" were called a racial slur by a resident as they were cleaning up the median in Delaney Park:

https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/city-of-orlando-parks-and-recreation-employee-says-woman-screamed-racial-slurs-at-his-crew

(based on the video, you can tell it happened on E Crystal Lake St near the dead end on S Orange Ave, so technically in Wadeview Park not Delaney Park)
