More 7-Elevens bite the dust - this time in Windermere and WG.

Turns out there’s a reason - they just bought Speedway from Marathon and the FTC required them to spin off 124 stores:

Back when OBT was cool - remembering the Wigwam Village just down the road from Chastain’s (originally the Arrowhead, fittingly enough) and Goff’s:

You still wish you could get your supper at Gary's Duck Inn.

I remember the first time I ever had scallops was at Gary’s. I think after the Red Lobster opened in Pine Hills (the chain was a spinoff of Gary’s), we just went there instead of wandering over to the Trail.

This article in the Sentinel about the proposed Miami mega-mall by the developers of a similar project in NJ (plus the prototypes of the species in Minneapolis and Edmonton) demonstrates how often such builders keep trying to hold on to ideas that are past their prime and don’t make sense in every setting.

It’s a cautionary tale for us when it comes to accepting whatever developers throw out to see what sticks. There’s a reason skepticism makes sense with the real estate industrial complex.

Good Ol' Joe just promised to let 125,000 unassimilated low-skill third world dependents into the U.S. every year. Turning the U.S. into a giant Somalian slum is the sort of justice and forward thinking this country needs.

Ah yes, God bless America except for the ones his Son asked us to show the most compassion to.

How many migrants will you be housing with you and paying for? If the answer is none, then your post is just hollow virtue signaling.

Are you going to repost a giant link to something we already looked at a day or two earlier and regularly on his own site or wait for your paper route to bring it by when it's hot off the press!?  Movable type is going to be all the rage, to hell with bulletin boards!

As Chancellor Angela Merkel prepares to leave the stage after a 16-year run, Germany’s center-left Social Democrats claimed victory in yesterday’s elections. The pro-environment leftist Greens also increased their third place showing over last time.

Meanwhile, Merkel’s center-right Christian Democrats dropped by nine points and the wingnut wackadoodle AfD remained unchanged.

While the left increased their totals, it will still take a while to cobble together a governing coalition in Germany’s parliamentary system (when forming a government, parties don’t always stay in their ideological lanes and something odd like the Christian Democrats linking up with The Greens could still happen). There’s also a chance of connecting with the Free Democrats, a socially liberal, free market party (talk about having your jelly donut and eating it too!)

Nevertheless, things are moving back left again and we’ll hope that means good things for November’s gubernatorial elections in NJ and VA.

I’m also glad to see USPS has begun experimenting with paycheck cashing in a very few locations. If we can let the unbanked do their financial stuff with the post office instead of the greedsters, that will be a good thing.

Here’s hoping Postmaster DeJoy doesn’t sabotage the test.

USPS is trying out a new business, which could transform how millions access cash and pay bills

Congratulations to Shawn Welcome who has been named Orlando’s second Poet Laureate!

https://bungalower.com/2021/10/04/shawn-welcome-named-as-orlandos-second-poet-laureate/

I might also add that I was remiss in wondering just what Buddy’s doing to earn his $178,000 annual salary these days.

Apparently he’s keeping very busy attending banquets around town. Keep up the great work, Mayor!

@AndyPok1, I have to ask: have you had as eventful a visit to Urban Meyer’s restaurant/bar in Columbus as the man himself last weekend? ;)

Also, why isn’t there an Urban Meyer’s in Hogtown? (I’d of course prefer Steve Spurrier’s!)
