A good look at how much nonsense the supposed “Power 5” is, which, btw, is not an official NCAA designation:

I still believe the best move for us is to build and grow the AAC so that the media like ESPN can’t ignore us instead of groveling to join outdated conferences that have one or two teams propping up their whole rotten structure.

To recap: the CFI is not official - it’s a media creation and will be modified when the media moguls find it profitable to do so. The best path for us is to make sure the AAC is so competitive there is no way to ignore it. We’re well on our way.

Our Knights move up two to #12 in this week’s D1Baseball poll. Even better, this Wednesday they’ll be playing the #7 ‘Canes at our lovely (close your eyes, @jgardnerucf!) Greater Oviedo field.

Exciting baseball is already here - no need to wait for Pat Williams’ fevered septuagenarian  Dreams.

Charge On!

Were you at the Sunday game?          Didn't think so. Lol

You're about to be banned on UP for saying that's Seminole counta' and po-dunk Ovieder.     Horrible.

I went to the basketball game for Senior Day. Matt Milon (from Oviedo!) is cute - I couldn’t resist.

The good news is that Danny White, probably one of the best AD’s in the last half century or more, has re-upped for five more years with our Knights.

The bad news is I kind of wanted him to run for mayor because he has infinitely more energy, vision  and ability to think outside the box than we’ve seen under the dome for the last decade or so.

Oh well. Charge On!

It’s kinda fun to read all the perks and incentives he also can get and, heaven knows, he’s worth every penny. If only all our local leaders were like this.

FUN FACT: Danny will now be the highest paid AD at a public school in FL. I guess the Gators and ‘Noles can’t afford to play in the big leagues!

Pete Thamel, one of the more respected sportswriters around, says CFP expansion is on the way:

https://sports.yahoo.com/why-the-fiscal-fallout-from-covid-19-will-lead-to-college-football-playoff-expansion-160851276.html

From Yahoo! Sports

Always remember and never forget that what moved this idea to the front burner was an undefeated team and an audacious AD just down the road from Oviedo a little over three years ago.

Charge On!

I always chuckle at how teams and pundits love to rattle off the success of their recruiting classes and all their 4- and 5-Star recruits. UCF frequently gets the short end of that stick and instead we see teams like Rutgers (really!?!) as standouts. Of course, our piddly three-star guys like KZ go on to rock the world, Rutgers not so much.

Anyway, with that in mind, interesting to see that 20 years ago, 30(!) NFL teams passed on Tom Brady in the early going.

Seems like recruiting classes and draft picks show a lot less than what a team does with the players once they have them.

Now, even SEC lackey Paul Finebaum is talking about CFP expansion.

It wasn’t so long ago he was totally opposed (and no doubt believed all 4 team in the current playoff should be from the SEC).

Danny planted the seeds of the revolution and now the battle will be joined...

ESPN’s FPI rankings have our Knights at #14. The 24/7 Sports read on this is that impressive wins against NC, Memphis and Cincy may put the lads from East Orange into contention for the CFP and make the football world go crazy again.

Just for @HankStrong, THE Ohio State (along with Clemson) are ranked at the top of the list ahead of any SEC teams. When’s the last time that happened?

One fun note for me is that IU’s Hoosiers are at #23. Could this hoopscentric school finally learn to play... football? The season opens with Wisconsin, so we’ll know pretty quick.

That’s of course assuming there IS an opening to the 2020 season. Don’t hold your breath just yet.
