A $95,000 permit has been granted for the construction of the 1,200 sq. ft. cafe on the first floor of the TownPlace Suites. It will be independently operated apart from the hotel itself, but no word on what the name or them will be.

Also, the 6,000 sq. ft. rooftop bar will operate year round. Also no word on name or them for that, either.

The 7,500 sq. ft. rooftop bar will be called Zeppelin (two bars, indoor/outdoor, music stage) and the 1,250 sq. ft. ground level coffeeshop will be named Moonshot (coffee, plus beer & wine at night). Both will serve food also.

Just surprised we aren't seeing more construction towards this side of downtown.  Isn't there another lot or two close by that have torn down structures for new development?

There is one lot next to News 5 that the same company that is doing the Town Place has plans to do a mixed use building.

One issue is that there is a height restriction in this area because of the State Capital. So when land prices are high and height restrictions are low, that limits what will happen in a certain area.

The land prices will adjust to accommodate development at some point, but there are not a lot of lots to be developed on as the state owns a lot of the land here.

It is slowly filling in between Jefferson Street and James Robertson, but the development will be mid-rise in nature as has been the case thus far.
