Located across South Grand Blvd. from Shaw, Compton Heights was first laid out in 1888 by Julius Pitzman and mostly developed between 1890 and 1920. The neighborhood is characterized by its large homes, curved streets and its canopy of trees. This is also home to the Compton Hill Water tower one of the three historic water towers in St. Louis. In my opinion it is one of St. Louis's best kept secrets.
