A stormwater grading permit has been sought and a 4th quarter groundbreaking is planned for Hyatt Caption.  The Whiskey Kitchen structure will be razed in mid-November. Civil Site Design is now listed

So, it will now be called M 12 instead of Eleventh  House. Will be 10 stories,  and 88 rooms now (was going to be 120 before).   Will still be a “private members’ lifestyle club” to offer a gastro pub, a restaurant, a wine cellar, event space for 300 people, space for art and music, first floor restaurant/bar for 167 people, and a rooftop bar.  The new site .45 acre at 118 12th Ave. South, where Whiskey Kitchen is currently located (owned by the same group).

Yes...once the CMHoF moved downtown, BMI took over their land and expanded the BMI site from where it is on 16th, adding on the multi-story building you see.  The old BMI building still remains on the west side.

M Street  Entertainment Group has sold the .45 acre land (which includes the Whiskey Kitchen Restaurant/Bar)and on which this was to be built for $5 million to C.B. Ragland. The restaurant will remain open for the time being.

M Cubed is still interested in this hotel concept on one of their other sites in the same neighborhood, but no specifics are available at this time. 

“Just over five years ago, we acquired the 1101 McGavock Building, now home to Kayne Prime (of M Street), Google Fiber and Redlight Management,” Michael Hayes, C.B. Ragland president, said in the release. “Since our acquisition, we have been collaborating closely with Chris Hyndman on ways to grow and enhance the overall M Street experience. We expect to continue collaboration as we contemplate the future of the site.”

Hyatt Caption Hotel will be 12 stories, with  an unknown amount of rooms, and underground parking on 1.1 acres at 118 12th Ave. South (SE corner of McGavock St. and 12th Ave. South) on site where Whiskey Kitchen currently resides.  A C.B. Ragland-affiliated entity is the developer, with Hastings Architecture is in charge of design. Originally, a 10 Story, 88 room M Hotel was planned for this site, but that developer, M Street Entertainment Group, sold the land to the Ragland group for $5 million in April.

The development team will go before MDHA Design Review Committee this morning (Oct. 19th, 2021) to request modifications to downtown code for below grade parking and some set backs.
