Redevelopment in New Center

New Center, the commercial node at the north end of the greater downtown area, is seeing a lot of redevelopment with the QLine having its terminus, here.

Baltimore Station (Phase I):  This building includes the reconstruction of a few existing buildings topped with new construction.  It includes 23 apartments and 10,000 square feet of ground floor retail space, and is scheduled to open this summer.  It takes it's name from the QLine's Baltimore Station:

Balitmore Station (Phase II): This phase includes138 units and more retail.  It broke ground a month or two ago.

Albert Kahn Building/New Center Building: It was announced earlier this month that this office building ahd been sold and will, be transformed into 200 apartments on floors 2-11 with commercial space in the ground floor and basement.  While never abandoned and fairly well maintained, it's occupancy hadn't been great in recent years.

Cass & York: This mixed use project seems to be the riskiest, and it's central development is proposed to be 53-units of condominiums priced at a steep $500,00 starting out.  They are shooting for a 2020 completion, so they'll have to get to work pretty quickly.

Cass Cadillac: This proposal consists of renovating Wayne State University's Criminal Justice Building (and before that the old Cadillac Sales and Service Building ) into 80,000 square feet of office space, nearly 20,000 square feet of ground floor retail, and a 6,000-square-foot art gallery for Wayne State University to exhibit its art collection.  This renovation will be completed by late next year.

Pistons Performance Center & HFHS Center for Athletic Medicine: This project is a partnership between the Detroit Pistons and Henry Ford Hospital, which is located in the neighborhood.  The building will include retail space, office space for the two organizations, and all manner or practice and rehab space for the Pistons as well as conference space for the public.  It's under construction and will be completed in the summer of next year.

The Boulevard: This building under constructon will include 231 apartments, 17,500 square feet of retail space, and parking.  Completition is expected in the winter of next year.
