Blue fencing up and people on site this morning

GBT Realty has secured a $100 million+ loan from First Horizon Bank and work is to start any day with Hoar Construction at the helm.

A few new updates:

- Both structures may be 15 or 16 stories each (previously 15 and 10).

- There will be two hotel brands: Hilton Garden Inn and Home2Suites.  Total of 172 rooms. Chartwell Hospitality will manage both.

- The retail space will be 11,000 sq. ft. (down from 19,000).

- There will be a large courtyard between the two structures, and 3 outdoor amenity spaces.

- Metro's Greenway walking/biking path will be  accessible via sidewalks.

I was wondering why there was fencing up on that site. At least from the site plan, that portion of land is not a part of this development. Is there anything going on with that building pictured? Or is it owned by the same group and being used in some way to assist with this development?

Purely guessing, but I think the fencing is to discourage vandalism and it getting junked up with the nearby construction. It looks to be owned by the same group as the bigger project. They may be holding it for future development.

You would think that the developers might have wanted to incorporated the site as a back exit of sorts onto West End from the bigger development. Metro may have squashed that.

Hoar's on Murphy Road?!?!  No wonder the neighborhood was against this one.

I saw two crane bases sticking out of the site today. Should go vertical soon.

As Andy20 stated, the crane bases are being set on the east and west sides of the site. Excavation for underground garage nearing completion as well.
