Save the Clock Tower was successful!  Clock being saved and returned to Gastonia.

Basically what I got from the article and the WSOC is that the clock disappeared for 40 plus years and was found in parts by some Charlotte attorneys who put it back together in front of their office.  Spectrum donated it back to city of Gastonia which plans to restore it and return it to Main St in downtown Gastonia with a big celebration next year. 

and yes Chopper 9 had footage of it returning to Gastonia

Kind of like the Midnight Diner. It was loaded up and brought straight down 85 from Kings Mountain and plopped right there in Southend.

I knew I had a photo of that building this clock was originally in front of. This is from Sept. 2018 and according to city of Gastonia will be returned nearby on Main Street. 

From my G Town archives (and downtown Gastonia has some architectural gems)

Part of going for a LEED certification which I am sure Spectrum is going for in this project is recycling and reusing as many things as possible.  This clock should count in my book.

Definitely 1. Much easier on the eye and easier to remove long term.

Caught some crane action with the steel beams.  Today the newest part of Charlotte Rising.

Can anyone explain why the brick office building at the intersection of Tryon and Carson hasn't been demolished yet? Wouldn't it make more sense to have the entire site cleared at once?

Hmm let me know for I will be somewhere to watch it.   

Part of the delay as they work towards a high level LEED certification is recycling as much of the materials they can from that existing building and the first building and garage were on the vacant part of the property.

^^^ this is flying up.  Spectrum can get it done with some office buildings.   10 days my pics showed 2 floors now there are 4 with @J-Rob photos.
