Nashville as MLB Expansion/Relocation Market

The orientation of the park on the east side wouldn't work for a skyline background in the outfield. Home plate at roughly 7:00 to 11:00 (1:00 is a rare stretch).  Interestingly, the site someone here pitched months ago at the west side of the river and south of the I-24 (Evans bridge) would be a good candidate for showing a skyline in the background because of the bend in the river.

If you build the ballpark between Spring Street/Jefferson Street and the railroad trestle and orient it in the same direction as the Great American Ballpark here in Cincinnati then you could get the skyline background in the outfield.

Is there a tract of land large enough to fit a stadium that doesn't require RR track removal/relocation?

There's plenty of room and the track does not need to change. The  area between the trestle and the Victory Memorial bridge could be a mixed use development.

I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything about River North as a potential location.  I know Oracle owns a lot of it now, but between them and Monroe Investments it seems that something could be worked out there if there was mutual interest.  Would be great to have a pro sports stadium as a centerpiece to that entirely new district, which should be almost fully built-out within a decade.

And yes, to echo what Smeags said, North Nashville feels like they're just grasping at straws.  Makes you wonder about the legitimacy of this whole thing.

If it’s true we’re going to get an MLB team eventually…then the next step is to find “that” spot that gives them the chance to be successful.   To me, a great setup would be to design the entire east bank (that includes the PSC site) with the football stadium and baseball stadium, surrounded by skyscrapers with apartments, condos, businesses, hotels, etc.  Consider the PSC site as “a few years down the road”, but design it and work towards a way to make this happen.  That land will eventually be developed…so do all we can to make it happen so that the MLB (as long as they have to money to hold up their end of the bargain) is successful.

There were several proposals for the PSC site back when the idea of a marina and a new channel for the Cumberland through the parling area was being studied.  One of the things they cited was the depth of th brownfield that the PSC site would have to remediated.  In some of the area they estimated  a removal of well over 20 feet.  This will be very expensive if that eatiamte is true.

We have seen some massive holes dug around town as of late ( lake Palmer, AEG yards site..etc) wouldn’t any development on this PSC site be digging huge areas for underground parking garages anyway? Just seems logical , that the cost of removing soil contaminated or not would be included in any project anyway.
