Do you really think that going on a blind date is "stepping up to the plate?" I would think that would be when someone actually approaches someone they are interested in and asks them out...

I hope the new tower rumor is true! Can you offer any details or rumblings? Is this Bob Ellis's secret uptown tower? Or does it involve the gateway site?

^^^I should of been more clear. Most of it isn't a joke. The blind date part was.

I was being funny (or trying to be) about the blind date part. I hope Greenville isn't going on a blind date, but if so then we will have to keep our fingers crossed that it's with a larger metro. I don't want my city whoring itself out to an insignificant city. ;)

  • 1 month later...

These types of projects are complicated and don't always pan out, just the nature of the biz.

I, for one, would much rather something simply not pan out ahead of being announced than see an announcement, lots of hype, "groundbreakings" and then have it not pan out or be scaled back...so this isn't so bad to me.

Oh, i completely agree. It's just that we have heard rumors of at least 4 or 5 towers in the 25-30 storey range, and none of them have even gotten to the announcement stage. Kinda makes for some frustration among us urban geeks. I guess we can hope for the gateway site.

...i've been meaning to post this...but...well, here it is. my fantasy drawing of my fav SC city in the upLand I've never seen...let's just say it's Greenville in 2050...with the Greenville GateWay Tower, the State's tallest building, finally built...

Very cool, Zahc! I see you included the village component and the rail transit as well. I like the pro sports venue as well. Maybe we'll get our pro soccer team soon! :shades:

I could live with that :) . Are you still planning on visiting this summer?

I so want to...but I'm taking care of a friend who's undergoing a complicated Hep C treatment...which he should be cured of by March...if the treatment is succesful...so, unless I can get away, Greenville of my dreams will have to wait...til 2008. At the same time, I'm dying to go back to Rome, Italy again...Rome is another City I dearly love.

...Greenville holds a special place in my heart; with such strict SC annexation laws the only way left to grow is carefully planned "infills" done right and "Up"...until the old laws are abolished anyway. City of Greenville is very beautiful and has a lot of potential to be a leader...
