Projects that could be or still will be under construction by next August:

United Community Bank (tower crane)

Broadview (tower crane)

Kimpton hotel (tower crane)

Gateway site (tower crane. Two of them?)

Delano (tower crane)

The Avant (tower crane)

Grace church project (tower crane)

County Square (tower crane if high rise is built)

Main at Markley (maybe a tower crane)

Agfa apartments (maybe a tower crane)

Gibbs at Westfield project (no tower crane)

Unity Park affordable housing (no tower crane)

Rhett Street project (tower crane. Two of them?)

Downtown Convention Center (tower crane)

That's a good list; looks like it could be potentially anywhere b/w 6-12 cranes at once? I also wonder what effect, if any, the continued inflation, supply chain issues, upcoming recession could have on all this; probably no way to know that.

You forgot the Kimpton (119 feet), Delano (100 feet) and County Square office building (110 feet???). :P I’m pretty sure the Grace Church high rise is never happening so no point including that one. :( Hopefully all of the other ones get built. We shall see.

It’s good that the Gateway and Beach Company proposed high rises are at higher elevations and on the far east and west sides of downtown. Those two buildings alone should really help expand the skyline.

I didn't include those others simply because they either seem to be on hold or we haven't heard anything about them in a long while.

Link doesn't work for me; but good to hear about the old Bilo site. I mean it's one block from the landmark so that would not make any sense.

Correction: they got rid of the height limit but changed the zoning so there are still height restrictions for the site. :( Looks like it went from seven stories being allowed to only five now. Ridiculous.

Try this one:

I still don’t like the height limits along Academy Street, McBee Avenue, and Broad Street. I am fine with the ones for the West End though as they line up with the proposed projects slated to get built there.

Thanks, that one works. I am surprised they don't include County Square since it has already been given limits as well. Somebody needs to put a 12 story office building with 25 foot floors just to stick it to the people who pushed for the 12 story limit there!

Yep…nobody can get financing. Banks are failing left and right. The sky is falling:

“A ceremonial groundbreaking is to take place at the site on May 24.

Chicago-based Riverside Investment & Development Co. will soon start site preparation for Queensbridge Collective, a $700 million mixed-use project at the edge of uptown and South End.

The massive project at 1111 S. Tryon St. includes a a 35-story, 600,000-square-foot office building and a 45-story multifamily tower with about 400 units with parking at levels two through nine, as well as 20,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.

Vertical construction on the residential tower will begin immediately following completion of the site work. Riverside secured more than $250 million in financing on the multifamily portion of the project.”

Its not really fair to compare Greenville to much bigger downtowns like CLT and ATL.

Having said that; it has always been a bit crazy to me that those cities can get multiple true highrises going at once and Greenville hasn't been able to get ONE 30 story building somewhere down through the decades.

Comparing Greenville to cities that are much larger than it for this type of stuff is just silly.
