If corporate relocation is so driven by pro sports teams, then why are Austin and Raleigh doing so well without them?

Research into the things you’ve mentioned have yet to demonstrate direct correlations, it’s merely what those trolling for taxpayer money want you to believe.

It’s also unnecessary- see Orlando City and the newest NFL stadium in Inglewood (LA) California.

NHL Hockey Team Carolina Hurricanes are located within the Raleigh city limits. lol

More shenanigans at the airport from DeSilly’s appointees (and a return engagement for Eric Foglesong!)

@jrs2, I’m beginning to think DeSinkhole must have taken correspondence courses in bad boy appointees from your buddy Blago. They both have great hair - maybe that’s a common trait for corruption….

So true!

on a serious note, though, while DeSantis has the better head, Blago, albeit impressive in his own right, has the mystique.   "That's my Blago!"  when people start asking "who's that?" then I'll REALLY feel old...

my first foray into the "old" references was when a radio DJ called Motley Crue Classic Rock a few short years ago.  I was like, no...Deep Purple is Classic Rock...Motley Crue is hair metal...

As if?

And I know there's people that don't remember Blago b/c that was like around '08 (yesterday to me (us)), but an eternity to 21year olds.

While DeStupid did it for the wrong reasons, pro sports teams have no business receiving handouts from the citizens. Let them pay for it on their own, especially since they reap the immense profits upon selling their franchises due to artificial restriction of supply.

DeSantis literally did it for the reason you said, he said no pro sports team needs handouts from our tax dollars. The gun tweet had nothing to do with it and is just liberal lies.

Isn't he on record saying the gun tweet was part of the reason? I mean, he really wants people to know when he is culture waring

Alan Grayson keeps coming back like athletes’ foot fungus. The GOP keeps loading up with wackadoodle retirees from the Midwest. Sadly, on our side of the aisle we have to deal with this carpetbagger from NYC. It’s a pity Cheetohead never built one of his walls at the Fla -Ga border…

There they go again. SJRWMD appointees (all by Republican governors and, in true DeSlippery fashion more likely to have ties to developers than to environmental protection), tried to slip through a proposal to declare surplus 18,000 acres of environmenmentay sensitive lands reaching from Clay to Orange and Brevard Counties.

How? On a consent agenda normally used for ordering paper clips and other non-controversial items.

Once again, GOP appointees behaving badly. How many times just this year? Had enough?

And the hacks just keep on coming! Republican Ted Edwards, who was thankfully tossed from the OC Commission several years ago, is trying again, but for Congress in the Stephanie Murphy seat this time.

Edwards was long Harris Rosen’s mouthpiece on the commission and one of those who went to the greatest lengths to torpedo light rail.

The district now is leaning more rightward after redistricting, but with close to a dozen GOPers in the primary, we can hope Ted will just go back into semi-retirement in NSB.

If it wasn’t bad enough that the GOP’s Ted Edwards came back from whatever rock he was hiding under, now we have Democrat Corrine Brown back in the CD10 race after a stint in jail. And then there’s Alan Grayson. Give us strength, Lord, and help these has-beens to realize there’s a reason they were sidelined years ago.

Net metering (which has to do with solar) has become a big topic in the GOP primary for FL House District 38 (Seminole County).

Oddly, far-right GOPers seem to be aligning with Democrats on the issue, which seeks to wrest control of solar for homeowners against the big utilities.

Given the new district’s Democratic lean(it wasn’t so long ago no one could have ever said that about Seminole but the MAGA crowd makes the suburbanites askeered), it may not matter much, but it’s a topic we’re likely to see more of.

De$pender just lost in court again (he’s trying to blame it on those doggone liberal judges but this one’s a Trump appointee).

Don’t worry, though - he’s letting you and other taxpayers pay for it. He’s been going to these show trials for most of his term, losing most of them and letting taxpayers pay lawyers in addition to those that work for the state up to $725/hour. That’s $5 million so far for cases that, in most cases, everyone knew would be unconstitutional before they ever became law.

Had enough?

DeSantis spends millions on legal bills at $725-an-hour. And he just lost again | Commentary

And for that, we blew our chance at Gwen Graham for governor. We’ll never know, but she had an integrity that suggested she might be one of the best leaders since Askew.

Thanks, South Florida!

The Lincoln Project that was the bane of Cheetohead’s existence in 2020 is now taking on DeSantis:

“The Lincoln Project says Gov. Ron DeSantis has supplanted Donald Trump as “the standard-bearer for the authoritarian movement formerly known as the GOP,” and it’s rubbing it in with a new ad.”

Skeletor is a underwater with just about everyone outside his base:

“According to a national survey of 2,005 registered voters from Morning Consult and POLITICO, Scott is underwater with virtually all demographics, except self-identified conservatives and Republicans.

Independent voters were notably sour on the Senator in the May poll. Just 12% of them approved of Scott, with 29% disapproving. Men particularly were opposed to Scott, with 36% of male independent voters regarding him unfavorably, a staggering -25 with the demographic.”

I’m sorry to see this but saw it coming. State Senator Linda Stewart, who was once one of our most effective Democratic legislators, began making questionable votes recently

I had hoped it was just a fluke, but apparently not. The Florida Chamber, a bulwark of the GOP power structure in Tally, has released its 2022 endorsements. Unsurprisingly, every House member they endorsed is a Republican. It’s the same on the Senate side except for… Linda Stewart.

For whatever reason, she has joined the mayor of the region’s largest city as a DINO. I can no longer Support Sen. Stewart in her re-election campaign. Sad.

LOL, Scott is the opposite of MAGA. It's probably why his numbers are so low.

Thanks for the early voting PSA! If you go to the supervisor of elections website you can see your sample ballot. Nice to have plenty of time to read up on the candidates before voting.
