DeSantis relocates Texas migrants, lets Florida businesses keep illegal labor | Commentary

From The Sentinel

Yep, about 800,000 undocumented here in Florida, making us one of the biggest states for that. Why? Because the Florida agricultural industry that refuses to pay market wages for workers are among his biggest contributors. In fact, two years ago, he passed a law that allowed them to skip the e-Verify process that’s the most efficient way to know who’s here appropriately.

Hypocrisy, thy name is GQP.

Ever stopped to think how many worthless lawsuits this MAGAt has gotten the state into in four years? Remember when Republicans were supposedly the financial stewards? How much money have Florida taxpayers had to pay for this nonsense?

And the federal court is in Massachusetts - that’s going to go well for ol’ Ron.

Had enough?

Yes, the far left is pushing an agenda almost as extreme as the far right.

But the difference in the two is the nature of what they're trying to achieve.

The left is not pushing one hare-brained religious belief over all the other hare-brained religious beliefs. Under the left, we are in no danger of becoming a theocracy. Under the right, it is an almost certainty. Under the left, we risk becoming a promiscuous society and that is not good. Under the right, we risk having any orientations that do not conform to the standards of their magic sky father's book of fairy tales turned into crimes punishable by jail time, or in the future, possibly "re-education" camps.

Under the right, we risk becoming a Christian version of Iran because the ideology of the right is based on religious morality, whereas the ideology of the left is based on secular morality.

Given that religion has a long history of leading to zealotry in the pursuit of converting (forcing) everyone else into their beliefs, I'm much more worried about them than I am of those who feel everyone should believe what they want even if I don't much care for certain aspects of  their lifestyles.

Plus, even though I agree about the annoying political correctness of the left, all your yadda yadda about the  "climate deniers" "anti-vaxxers" "election deniers" "alternative facts" just being empty rhetoric tells me that you drink the Trump Kool Aid.

Those kooks exist.

We did not just make them up.

Anyone who thinks we did, is one of them and as such, a proponent of "the big lie" and part of the problem.

Mr Pot, meet Mr Kettle.

great post!

ok.  Mr. Pot and Mr. Kettle- the difference is I don't go around initially posting political jabs; I react to them (but usually ignore them).  And I know you know that, but I still get blamed for opening up my mouth.

On the religious thing...  what will happen is that THEY will create a One World Religion.  Having a Democrat in office won't slow it down, and having a right-winger in office won't speed it up.  Old Man Bush made the NWO speech on 9-11-91 to the UN.  Typically the Authority doesn't reveal something unless it's already a done deal, or, when the masses are so apathetic they just don't care or understand; kind of like cattle.

Secular morality is the biggest hypocritical concept ever known, dictated by the Elite; it takes God out of the equation, for the masses, which gives you your Government God, right?  Same deal as with the Roman Empire, and all communist countries.  So the Elite give you atheism yet they themselves are NOT atheists.  They make everyone an atheist because it makes them easier to control.

Not what I said ^^^.

But all right-wingers are "Christians".

Or at least they pretend to be.

And they are the kind who are more than ready and willing to shove it down America's throat, like it or not.

No thanks re: the rest of it.

The shoving down of throats, for example, is when the SCOTUS makes a decision of national enforcement on any issue.  An issue isn't "shoved" when the SCOTUS decision leaves it to the States to each decide it on it's own.  Another example is when an old man in a mask tells you that you have to stick a needle with a foreign substance into your vein, while he, on TV, feigns same in a public display of propaganda unlike anything I've ever witnessed before.  So that makes me a kook.

Not all right wingers are Christians.  In fact, I don't know how many Christians even exist...period. There are pretenders for the sake of politics, etc.

Let me give you an example:  Guy walking down the street strikes up a conversation with someone and name drops Christ, quoting a couple of proverbs.  Oh he must be Christian.  Really?  I can quote Shakespeare but it doesn't make me smart nor does it make me a philosopher.  I can also quote a Ferrari mechanics manual but it doesn't make me a race car driver or Ferrari owner either.  I can run for office and say I believe in strong morals and family values and people assume I'm Christian, when in essence I'm a Satanist.

Please pass this on to Lindsey Graham, won’t you?

The Republic is saved, right?  Well, a Republic shouldn't have DC telling it what to do and how to think.  Or are we hypocrites on this subject as well only when it suits are needs?

And I don't understand the Lindsey Graham reference.  I don't know a whole lot about him if anything at all.

Perhaps you should pay more attention. Abortion should be up to states’ rights, you say? Well, the senior Republican senator from South Carolina has introduced legislation to make a very restrictive FEDERAL law. States would be free to make forced birth more restrictive or illegal but could not make it any less so than his bill.

See, it was NEVER about states’ rights, it’s about controlling women’s bodies. Sorry, you really should watch something besides OAN every now and then.

Of course, this is just a gift to the Democrats (The Turtle almost had a hemorrhage) but that doesn’t change the fact that, in the GQP world, freedom is only for straight white males.

Oh! And one more thing - guess who is a co-sponsor of Lindsey’s bill? Florida’s own Little Marco! So you see, it is really close to home.

I don't watch OAN.  Didn't you hear anything I've been saying?

First of all, My Body My Choice.  Women can do whatever the hec they want to do as far as I care.  Secondly, apply that same hypocritical standard to vaccines.

There is no gift to either party.  This is all scripted.  If you can't see it, it is because you don't want to see it.  My eyes aren't that open and even I see it.  By that same standard you must be walking around with blinders.

Everything they do is on purpose to cause division.  It's not because they're clueless; it is because it is purposeful.

Oh, another conspiracy theory. Right. How is it that whenever I worked for some of the most powerful politicians in the state I never got the secret handshake? Let’s also consider how many tens of thousands would have had to be in on it over the years without spilling the beans. It’s like Apollo 11 being a fake, right? And Hillary doing unspeakable things to children in the basement of a DC pizza parlor that has no basement, right? Thanks for clearing that up for me.

How is it that the blind always cry conspiracy theory when somebody tells them they're being played?  Get ten people into a room and the other nine will deny deny deny 'till they're blue in the face for the following reasons: 1) ignorance, 2)conditioning, 3) fear.  The Authority's number one industry is that of conditioning; number two is fear, and fear works best when people are ignorant.  And they do this to keep the population in check.   To your other point, I'm telling you what's going on and you don't even want to acknowledge it.  How do you know I'm not trying to "spill the beans" myself yet it keeps falling on deaf ears?  Now apply that to that age old tired fallacy you just stated above.

Also, what happened with Apollo 11?  I've never been to Comet Pizza, so I don't know the layout of the place and I sure as hec wouldn't trust the media's account of whether they have a basement or not.  It's just amazing how conditioned people are; how they regurgitate everything they hear...much like a parrot...and claim firsthand knowledge of things they don't even have second hand knowledge of.  That is a result of good conditioning.  That's what The Authority expects you to do; fall in line.  Based on what I've read in this thread over the past week, it is pretty shameful how the human condition has deteriorated to the point of being nothing more than cattle to be herded by an amoral secular theocracy, all  the while blaming "belief in God" or the "religious right" or what have you as justification for doing so.

Well, you can't blame God.  And before someone tries to claim yet again that He doesn't exist, know this...the people that control the world are not atheists, but they expect you to be, so they can control you.  Remember, your compliance is expected.

Florida-based Trulieve is taking steps to get recreational marijuana on the 2024 ballot:

Don’t hold that toke just yet: your troglodytes at the Florida GQP will likely fight it every step of the way.

Also, even if passed, since the primary sponsor is corporate, growing your own will still be a no-no.

Now Randy Fine, not content with shutting down UCF and aiding abetting DeathSatan’s worst impulses, wants to shut down “Come Out With Pride” as well. The man is just evil incarnate, but that’s sadly who gets elected in wackadoodle Brevard County.

Wouldn't surprise me if marijuana legalization passes and DeSantis overturns the will of the voters like Kristi Noem did in South Dakota.

Actually, I’m not so sure about the Q and Bannon crowd being anything other than “nones”. Certainly, the evangelical Christians and far too much of the American Catholic Church has been co-opted. Jennifer Rubin had an excellent WaPo column this week about how evangelical membership is dropping like a stone (following earlier drops among mainline Protestants and later Catholics). She finds based on the increasing number of “nones” (no organized religion) that a lot of what we’re seeing is reactionary. The problem is the way they’re going about it is pushing the younger generations away even further.

Its a mix. Many of the Maga types would not know a church if they were standing in it. Some are evangelicals and trying to hold on to power as best they can. The rest are self described evangelical christians that never go to church and have a tenuous relationship with organized religion. But they wear the cross and have tattoos celebrating christ, LOL

I always have to wonder why these supposedly “churchly” folks get so politicized.

My church, FUMCO, one of the pioneering congregations in town from back in the early days of Orlando, leans progressive but the view from the pulpit just concentrates on helping folks and following the ways of Christ the best we can. I’m especially pleased that, unlike some of the Catholic bishops in the US, we have open communion. I wasn’t born in to FUMCO (I was raised in an evangelical church that didn’t even allow pianos or organs). I was attracted to it years ago for being what I always imagined a church should be (oddly enough, it was a George Will column that sent me). It’s been about 40 years now and I’ve rarely been disappointed.

Btw, @jack, glad you’re back. I’ve missed you the last couple of weeks!

The people you're talking about are not the "Christians" of yesteryear.

They are part of a movement known as "Christian Nationalism".

These are the conspiracy kooks and Trumper types.

Election deniers, anti-vaxxers, birthers, 9/11 truthers, etc, etc.

They hold extreme right-wing political views that get spoon fed to them by "pastors" who exploit their gullibility, naivete and low IQ for their own benefit.

is it un-churchly to get political?

you're a tough nut to crack.  you preach a Good message.  what does "leans progressive" mean?

I have a colleague that broke off from the main Pres church and joined the one on Lake Highland.  He had told me they allowed gay pastors as the major difference.

you can grow your own in MI with a license.  hence, it all comes down to the govt. being able to make money off of it.

And, marijuana is notorious for use in pain management and mental health management.  Now do you really think a politician in a vacuum will nix recreational MJ without lobbying from big pharma being involved?  follow the money.

so instead of focusing on a guy that listened to parents that said stay the F out of our kids' heads in the classroom, maybe focus on big pharma as the cancer that dictates a lot of policy in this country when it comes to medicine, you know, the same medicine that only "treats" cancer until you're broke or dead, and the same big pharma that has everyone dancing compliancy jigs like good little court jesters following their heroes who make TV public displays of sticking needles in their arms.

It's already fully legalized in 19 of 50 states, and decriminalized in another 10 states.

It is neither decriminalized or fully legal in Florida.  That has nothing to do with "big pharma - follow the money" catch phrases.

Its a social issue like every other state where the voters took it to ballot.
