The problem isn’t with Herschel. The problem is with the GQP actively recruiting and supporting a candidate who has none of the qualifications a senator should have.

One has to give the Repubs credit, though - they found someone even less qualified to be a senator than Tommy Tuberville, and that would have seemed impossible if they hadn’t dug up Herschel.

the fact that you put clout in a politician ala "qualifications" is just mind numbing to me.  I don't know, what, a politician has to be a Poly Sci major and maybe an attorney to qualify to run?  Or someone that worked for ACORN?  Or, is it someone who is a Leftist?  Tell me, was AOC "qualified"?

AOC has a degree from a well respected University, and prior to running for office she worked for Senator Bernie Sanders's campaign. Plus, she's a U.S. Representative which is entry-level compared to being a Senator like Herschel Walker is trying to be.

AOC is actively participating as a Congresswoman and learning more with each session. It astounds me just how few legitimate sources of information you seem to read. Serious question - do you even want the government to operate successfully for all its citizens?

Don’t get me wrong - I’m not a big fan of AOC but she does manage to accurately represent her district while learning the craft of legislating - she is by no means just a show horse.

Btw, Harry Truman wasn’t a lawyer and didn’t go to college but was an effective senator and president. LBJ wasn’t a lawyer (he dropped out after one semester of law school) and went to one of the least regarded colleges in Texas (history/English double major) but was one of the best Senate majority leaders and a very effective president until he ran into the Vietnam buzzsaw.

Most recently, Secretary Mayor Pete is not a lawyer and I don’t think he majored in poli  sci (does one major in anything at Harvard?) That should tell you all you need to know given he’s my choice for president.

What I look for in any candidate is a vision for making things better, the ability to accomplish it and spending more time working for that to happen than appearing on media. In short, a work horse not a show horse. After you’ve been in office a bit, you can balance both jobs, but a person like Herschel or MTG is unlikely to ever attempt that, or to even try.

Oh! I almost forgot. Likely Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost, age 25, didn’t finish college, instead going into activism and lobbying after the Parkland massacre.

If he turns out to be as useless as Madison Cawthorn or MTG, you’re welcome to say “I told you so” but he’s been busy working Congress and the Legislature for change (did I mention he’s just 25?) during the past several years and I’m happy to support him.

all I'm saying is that you guys diss Herschel, and he is still one of the most well know people in general, over the past 40 years.  What about Ahnold or Gofer from Love Boat?  What about Reagan as CA governor?

you guys just like taking jabs at Conservatives is all I see.

And regarding Parkland, what is Frost advocating for, better interdepartmental coordination so that when there's an active shooter the first set of responders that arrive don't just sit on their a55e5 while kids get slaughtered?  Because that's what happened there.  Or is he going to pander the Left about the AR-1S (not the QB) like everyone before him.  Seriously, Chicago South Side gang violence shootings get blamed by Illinois Liberal leaders on Mississippi's lax gun laws.  How retarded is that?  That's why the Right coined the term "libtard."

And if you want to prevent a Parkland shooting in the future, have security at the school that's armed.  Seriously, you guys are so easily led and so easily influenced by the power brokers in this country.  They read these posts laughing their a55e5 off, laughing at me for trying to talk some sense into you people and laughing at you for being so predictably controllable and influenced by them.  And it goes on and on...

is there a Craigslist Senator Position qualification board that applicants need to read before throwing their hat into the ring?  Herschel went to UGA and has a Heisman Trophy in his cabinet, in an NFL All-Pro, and has the respect of his peers across the country.

So you've got a guy who has the respect of  millions of people across the county compared to a woman who is seen as a disrespectful white outfit-wearing, sit but don't stand (when everyone else is in Congress when the President is speaking) silent protester, because they told her to be a good little SJW.  That show of utter disrespect is a disgrace in DC.  And she is a member of DSA.  I can't even believe people would admit to that; how far this country has fallen over the past twenty years.

Nobody has respect for her that isn't a Socialist.

So instead of trying to justify it based on the fact she went to BU in this attempt to compare, just admit the bias against Herschel b/c he's a conservative.  Seriously...

I dislike AOC and her "Squad" buddies, and I don't like some of her radical left positions, but what you say is true, so she is obviously light years more qualified than Walker.

AOC has good qualifications when you look at her resume, and I salute her for making it as far as she has, and I'll leave it at that.

I'm not sensitive.  But you said it yourself about Spenser many weeks back about being "unhinged" (for example, and no offense to Spenser).  You have these boards.  Most conservatives can give a rip about the issues discussed here, so they don't come here; maybe realtors do.  So then you have liberals using the forum as a sounding board or whatever, and nobody retorts on the other side. There is the other side.  But, it's like that saying "there's your side, there's my side, but then there's the truth."  I try to get to the truth because sides are way to predictable to align with.  Savvy?

For the record, I could care less about Herschel; remember...I'm a Gator.  And on that subject, I like Buddy; he's also a Gator...but is also a Democrat...LOL, I really don't care about that.  Did I like Rick Scott, no.  Did I like Crist? Yes.  Did I like Jeb?  I met him once...he seemed ok.  But he's a Bush...and that's a whole other topic...that family...But, contrary to UP Opinion, I like DeSantis...well...he's good looking (not that I'm gay)...but he's a stooge.  Everything he does is scripted, right down to that clemency thing I mentioned a few weeks back where I was like...man...you really toted the Party line on that one dude...  The Disney thing is a dog and pony show for the constituents.

holy sh!t...maybe you're right...I think I am sensitive...  sorry.

I need a drink.

The GOP did not recruit him. Trump did and everyone else rolled over. At least Dr OZ had a primary. He probably still would have one but at least he could have sharpened his political skills if he had opposition.

Well. @jrs2 seems bothered when I post and incensed when I don’t. So, I’ll keep it simple: VOTE! Mail ballots are on the way - mark your choices and send them back quickly. Still a while before Early Voting.

I'm not bothered when you post.  I just don't want it to be WWIII when someone disagrees with the narrative of what you or anyone else posts.  But for whatever reason it usually seems to end up that way...

That's what the system wants you to believe, brother. Two sides of the same coin playing us off against each other. Trump was just a psyop. Look around man, it's plain as day. We need to stock up on pallets of storable food and have plenty of bottles of Brainforce and non-flouride toothpaste. But they'll never tell you that because it's not part of the narrative.

Edit: It's very telling that I even need to say this, but I'm being sarcastic.

Are you messing with me right now?  I hinted at that and JFW called to have me Baker Acted...LOL...

About there being no difference between the two parties: the man most infamous for spreading that nonsense (and likely costing Al Gore the presidency in 2000), Ralph Nader, has recanted and is all in for the Democrats in 2022.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/10/06/ralph-nader-finally-supports-democrats/

From The Washington Post

Glad Ralph has finally gotten with the program after 22 years.

I used to be one of "those" until recently so I know the script. January 6th snapped me out of it.

Oh, I don't believe that for a minute. What you just claimed is a paradox.  If you realize you've been lied to, and then an event happens that shocks you, then, what, all of the sudden you decide you are not being lied to anymore?  Puh-lease...  That conversational tactic is no different than someone saying they are a registered republican but that they can't bring themselves to vote for Trump because of [fill in the blank], to make you think they are being objective.

You mention Jan 6 yet you ignore the domino effect of what progressed that evening on the ratification of electors.  You think Trump really tried to cause an insurrection even though they couldn't or didn't impeach him for it.  An insurrection would have been an armed military coup.   What happened in DC was a laughable bunch of bologna that was created by the Feds so that they would have an excuse not to allow delegates from the affected states to testify as to voter fraud by delaying things several hours into the middle of the night.  The Left was behind it, the Never Trumpers were behind it, even Pence, lap dog of the GOP.

But because you guys got the result you wanted, you double down on its "legitimacy."  It's like a personal foul in football that goes your way.

It's laughable when the FBI answers Cruz "I cannot confirm or deny that" regarding the employment of, or direction given to, at least one or more identified individuals that actually opened or unlocked the doors to the Capitol, which was caught on film, while at the same time the Dems make their speech "it was a dark day...yah dee yah dee yah dah..." to control the narrative.

Foreigners see the truth about what happened on Jan 6.  The whole world does.

Yeah...propaganda...it's a thing...even in the US. But don't look to the propaganda machine for verification of that.

This riveting discussion about AOC reminded me that her alma mater is nearing completion on the largest net zero carbon emissions building in the northeast:

Damn those liberal elites!

Also, it’s pretty cool. I walked around it last week.

St. Pete has a city charter provision on the ballot next month to change their municipal elections to correspond with federal elections. Good. The Tampa Bay Times concurs.

It might surprise you to know that’s how city elections in Orlando used to work. They should again. Yes, it will require coordinating a change that makes life more difficult for the SoE’s office. Given Bill Cowles is among the best in the country, I believe he’s more than up to the job.

After all, the goal is to get the maximum number of voters involved, right? (granted, that hasn’t been the motive for some of our local officials lately, but that’s a topic for another day). The simple fact is more people vote when they expect elections: i.e., in the fall of even-numbered years.
