Looks like there are two crane bases. One one the sycamore side and one on the Ashton side. Also didn’t have time to snap a picture.

Gonna be sweet seeing this site rise.  Especially because of the Corona Virus related economic slowdown we will definitely have less Cranes in the sky in 2021 then we do now in 2020.  So many sites will be topping out this year, cranes taken down but other projects that could replace them will be delayed.

For those late to this, the Charlotte Trolley was housed in the Atherton Mill adjacent building in the background here. Operations, repair and office were contained therein. The car 85 ran from there to Tremont on a glorified extension cord for several years.  Then the local Cummins diesel company donated a rail mounted generator that was hooked to the car for independent motivation. The Tremont shelter/trolley stop was built and the car ran from there to Morehead Street. Later, after the new rail bed and electric overhead lines were in place a Gomaco car ran from the Tremont station to 7th street on weekends for a tourist attraction. In 2009 the local budget during the Great Recession killed the weekend outing and the Tremont station has been unused since that time.

Hmm catching up on my ATL Business Chronicle and see an article on new head of Portman Residential.

Here is a quote from the subscriber story

""What projects does Portman Residential have in planning stages right now, and when could these projects break ground?

Our first project will likely break ground in the second quarter of 2021, which is the residential phase of Portman’s redevelopment of the historic [H.M. Patterson & Son] funeral home property in Midtown Atlanta. A second residential tower is in the works in Buckhead Village which includes a high-end hotel that will likely break ground in 2022. We are also in the early stages of projects in Charlotte, N.C., and Nashville, and looking for additional deals in other markets.""

Lets see where does Portman own a tract of land that is desirable for an apartment tower oh yeah right here next to the office tower on the current site of Sycamore Brewing.    Their first apartment tower in ATL's Midtown?   34 stories.

Portman can sometimes deliver stunning architecture, but more often than not its bland. Cue the CODA and Portman buildings.

Proverbs 6:16-19 lists eight things which are abominations: "haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who utters lies, one who spreads strife among brothers, and utility poles and wires that disgrace the landscape."

(really just the first seven, but if the poet were here today...)
