Much to my surprise and disappointment CBJ reports that Portman decided to dump the food hall idea here. They are replacing it with... nothing?

They have plans for a restaurant they said they are negotiating with now in lieu of the food hall.

That’s great news for Optimist Hall! Few places in Charlotte can replicate the authenticity and character of Optimist Hall. I was worried that another large food hall could pull customers away. And it’s such a defining sense of place that I want it to become a Charlotte staple/must-see.

I think this is actually good news...because there’s optimist hall, 7th street, Lintmens, and then two other food halls in the works. An idea can be overdone.

I saw a few today and only walked the trail a few blocks LOL.    Remember this is false spring winter will return then real spring starts then Pollen season etc. 

But this is why people move here for the weather and jobs and cost of living always a few warm days in the winter.

Portman's Line rising.   up to 13th floor but probably called 14th LOL but don't expect a Chinese firm to rent the 14th floor as 4 sounds like Death they would rather be on the 13th floor.

I’m hoping it comes together like Honeywell because this parking deck is overwhelming! And not in a good way. The renderings look promising but seeing this at his point makes me nervous. Seems like the largest parking decks in the city are usually right off of the Rail Line and that’s upsetting. Only time will tell.

Present below. To me, it looks like there's going to be a much larger plaza now compared to the rendering. Which I assume Sycamore will utilize for outdoor seating. Deck is also much larger in real life. Deck screening is going to be very important here - will make or break the aesthetics of this project, in my mind. 

Original rendering (out-of-date). I LOVED this version but understand why VE updates were made.

Its not a bigger plaza, they are building that section of the building, since there are no high rise floors above it last, to save time.

My walkabout today.  This is up to 13/14th floor a couple more to go.

Well, from my point of view the actual building is up to the 6th or 7th floor propped up on a 7 level garage. Hahaha [emoji38].
Like I’ve said before it bothers me (only slightly) as far as over all height because it Seems like a bit of a cheat for more height. I’m sure that’s not what’s it about though. I get it, it’s better than taking up more space with the deck separate off to the side and way cheaper than burying it. I know some on this forum would wish there was no deck at all and just have an 8-10 story building.
Looks like several different floor heights as well, and on the parking deck levels. It is what it is. I am thankful for this building.
