It's an one of the more tone-deaf developments that I have seen, essentially tearing down half a block of a neighborhood's historic charm all for the sake of an extremely cookie-cutter hotel brand that will add no value to the area. The developer either has little understanding of the community that they want to build in, or perhaps worse, they do realize what they're doing and simply don't care. It's really disappointing regardless because Nashville is not a city with few plots of land to develop.

A first quarter 2022 start is being planned for the 8 story, 168 room Holiday Inn Express at 2221 Elliston Place.  A late 2023 completion is the goal. Southeast Venture will be the architect. A construction loan and general contractor are still being finalized.

After numerous delays due to the pandemic, Janek "Jay" Patel of Elliston Hospitality LLC says that the project should get underway by the end of the year.  A 20 month construction schedule is planned. 

Demolition of the three-building Louise Douglas Apartments will take place once the loan and permits are in hand. No renters remain in the three old-school masonry apartment houses.

The unfortunate destruction of this beautiful old apartment building aside, normally I'd say that any development is an improvement over the empty lot that this site is about to be... but in this case, I'm really not so sure.  Ugh.

Elliston Hospitality LLC has secured at $43.1 million loan for construction, meaning that the Louise Douglas Apts. should be razed any day now. A march 2024 completion is eyed for the 8 story, 168 room hotel.

A demo permit of $40,000 has been issued to Dem Tec Inc. to raze the Louis Douglas Apartments to make way for the 8 story, 168 room hotel.  Fencing is apparently up around the site.
