Apartment complex proposed for Chattanooga's North Shore

https://outline.com/qE7EEw

A Chattanooga panel on Thursday gave approval for a South Carolina development group to put up a pair of 5-story apartment buildings on a tract off Manufacturers Road.

The proposed apartment complex by Middle Street Partners of Charleston, South Carolina, would go on a vacant tract at 430 Manufacturers Road.

It's the same site where a $30 million assisted living facility was planned in 2019, but nothing was ever constructed.

Sounds like a hell of a project!  It'll be cool to see it coming right into town on I-75... one of these days I want to make it to a Red Wolves game.  It'd be awesome if they could form an affiliation deal with Nashville SC.

From the TFP... Ooltewah is bursting at the seams.  https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/business/aroundregion/story/2021/oct/11/more-homebuilding-ooltewah-draw-neighbors-wor/555834/

According to county planners, as many as 1,100 more residences already are approved in the East Brainerd area. Some people are concerned about over-development and traffic issues spilling into the Ooltewah-Collegedale and Apison areas.

More downtown residential development.

Thanks for keeping us posted on Chattanooga. Now that I don't go downtown daily and I haven't looked at the TFP since they switched over to iPad only (except for Sunday), so much gets past me.

I don’t catch much these days either unless I happen upon it while on Twitter since I don’t get TFP either.

I suppose a new thread should be created for the old Weiland Foundry site between the Southside and Lookout Mountain.  When plans become more concrete, of course.  It looks like it's becoming a serious proposal now with a key developer identified.

From the TFP.   https://www.timesfreepress.com/news/local/story/2022/feb/26/lookouts-stadium/564119/#/questions

Here's the estimated cost for a new Lookouts stadium in Chattanooga

Nashville developer plans $150 million in related projectsFebruary 26, 2022 | by Mike Pare | Copyright © 2022

A new stadium with the Chattanooga Lookouts as the primary user is pegged at costing $86.5 million, including a donation of some land at the proposed Wheland Foundry/U.S. Pipe site, figures show. Also, a Nashville developer is planning $150 million in new residential and commercial projects around the proposed stadium if the multiuse facility receives the go sign from officials, according to a document sent to state legislators.

Didn't Chattanooga just build the current Lookouts stadium relatively recently?  Seems like there'd be a great number of things that would be a better usage of that money than replacing a lightly used minor league baseball stadium.

It’s like 22 years old and honestly not the best stadium, the bulk of the stands face the sun so you literally bake in the sun to watch the game. The city I think also owns the property and I know they want to sell it to develop it.

Holy cow is it 22 years old?  My mistake then!  I guess in my aging brain the Aquarium is still "new" too but that's probably even older than the stadium!

Nashville Developer Plans 2 Large Apartment Buildings, Commercial Space On 7 Acres On Manufacturers Road

https://www.chattanoogan.com/2022/3/23/445827/Nashville-Developer-Plans-2-Large.aspx

A Nashville developer is planning two large apartment buildings on over seven acres at 702 Manufacturers Road.

Beacon Acquisitions LLC is seeking rezoning and an ability to go to five stories high in an appearance before the Planning Commission in April. The limit is four stories without a variance.

There will also be some commercial space.

One building is to have 74,515 square feet and the other 45,540.

I have no idea where to put this, because it isn't news by any means, but this thread seems as good a place as any, I guess.  I was just wondering if any of you Chattanoogans were familiar with this youtuber called Geography King.  His channel is one of the most popular geography based youtube channels, and he lives in Chattanooga and talks about it pretty frequently.  Pretty interesting content if you're a geography nerd like me.  It's a very long shot but I guess I was just curious if any of you possibly knew the guy or ran in the same circles... hell, maybe he's a forumer here!  Who knows?
