Redstone Federal Credit Union’s New Downtown Huntsville Branch and Office Building - 5 stories | 200 Davis Circle (Twickenham Square) | 66,718 sqft

Recommended Posts

Looks like Redstone Federal Credit Union broke ground yesterday on a new downtown Huntsville branch and office building.  The building will be 5 stories with 66,718 sqft of total space with an expected opening of Fall 2020.  The location will be at 200 Davis Circle in the Twickenham Square area.  The Twickenham Square area is a fairly new development that contains a Publix, some retail and restaurants, office buildings, hotel, residential and parking.  Architects will be the KPS Group and the exterior design is to feature more glass and metal panels as opposed to brick.

Apparently, the building will seem to glow as "motorists travel into the city from the interstate."  Not sure how you will be able to see this from I-565...maybe the Parkway...?

Redstone’s Twickenham Square location was previously the home of Phillips Christian Methodist Episcopal Church - the second oldest African-American congregation in Huntsville.

“We will erect a historic marker on these grounds to remember this congregation’s service to its membership and to the community,’’ Newberry said.

Church officials chose to relocate the congregation earlier this year.

Some additional tidbits from the news pieces:

  • Will be the first RFCU in downtown Huntsville in the company's 67 year history!  The company's 67 year anniversary was yesterday btw as well.
  • Chartered on November 28, 1951
  • Alabama's largest credit union with 26 locations in the Tennessee Valley, 6 of those in Huntsville, this will be the 7th
  • RFCU has $4.5 billion in assets with more than 410,000 members
  • RFCU has two other additional project underway: 1) A flagship Tennessee branch office in Murfreesboro, TN broke ground in June 2018 on Medical Center Parkway due to open Summer 2019, and 2) a modern drive-thru teller station on North Parkway to open Jan. 2010
