What’s weird is in pics the garage glass and office glass look like they’re different shades, but in reality it’s all the same black.  I drove by yesterday and made it a point to look.   Or is it my aging eyes??

The stadium creating shade? Or better light flow through the office sections vs the garage sections when just natural daylight?

I assume the glass isn't transparent on the parking levels (e.g. Hearst and Ave parking garages).

This turned out beautifully.   I'd never guess that the lower portion was a parking garage.  The architects did an amazing job.

You mean that obvious change in glass color where the building meets the gargantuan garage immediately adjacent to it?

This isn't a building by Norman Foster that was supposed to attract hedge funds paying $300/s.f.  and spared no expense.  For what it is, I think that it turned out beautifully.  They could have just left a hideous, concrete garage at the base, but instead, they made the garage look like the office space above it.

I like that is it brick or brick looking in a sea of glass towers.  I like Ally because it horizontal bands which is different for uptown. 

When Legacy and the first tower Bank of America Tower was announced I remember all these woe as me the whole 2 blocks will look the same style of the first tower.  None of the towers look alike including the Honeywell and that is a good thing.

You could plop this tower on UNC Charlottes campus and it would fit in perfectly lol. To Phillydogs comment above...I mean I’m in the same boat as BlueDev...it’s not perfect but I mean it ain’t bad either. It’s unique in that it’s facade is different than the all glass towers we are used to. Whether you view this as a pro or con it does blend into the parking deck seamlessly. The deck is masked. Decent height, hopefully the retail pans out once things pick up. Old rumor was a brewery. That would be a nice fit next to a stadium for pregame and post game activities. And the most important factor is regardless of what ppl think the tower looks like, this site attracted a fortune 100 company to the QC. And maybe someday will spur other towers uptown or surrounding area as the ceo once alluded to. Overall, it’s a solid B to me.

Yes, there was a hearing on the Honeywell signage at the city council meeting tonight.  Braxton Winston urged caution and, paraphrasing, said Charlotte needs to figure out whether it wants a skyline defined by its architecture or a skyline that looks like an aisle in CVS.  And yes, Truist came up in that discussion.  It appears it was the catalyst behind a recent amendment to skyline signage regulations, which apparently still needs clarity.
