Odd the way they're starting at one corner, going all the way up, then (presumably), outwards towards the west and north.

I wonder if they're going to go all the way west, then north or vice-versa, or build out in both directions at the same time.

Don't think I'e ever seen a building go up like that.

At least not a downtown residential/commercial high rise.

Same here, for the most part.

It will certainly make a huge impact on that corner.

The last use of that corner was for NCNB drive in-tellers, however long ago that was (and that was hardly highest and best use, either). What we’re getting is certainly an improvement over what we got on the duPont Centre II site after it sat empty for 25 years, so definitely a net improvement imho.

How well do prefab structures perform during hurricanes? Are they above or below average: water intrusion, wind load/speed, etc.

I've heard parking garages are pretty safe during hurricanes. I actually slept in my car parked in an on-site parking garage during the year of Hurricane Charley et al. - I was on the hurricane response team for an organization back in the day (no it wasn't allowed, but I didn't want to sleep on the ground and we didn't have any cots available so I snuck into the parking garage to catch some zzz's). Interesting experience lol.
