Your Dream Tower

So I'm bored and UP has been slow today, so I thought I'd start this and see what everyone comes up with. What's your dream tower for Nashville? I really like the Mercury Tower in Moscow. It reminds me of skyscrapers in Mass Effect. Also, although not a skyscraper, it would be really cool to have something like the Supertree Grove.

I’ve always wanted a observation tower over by the titans stadium.  It wouldn’t have to be supertall but around 1000 feet would be nice. Maybe a design like canton tower in Guangzhou.

My dream tower isn’t a tower but a major renovation to Nissan Stadium in which we can host Super Bowls, college football playoffs or finals, and ncaa men’s final four.

In order to make nissan stadium utilized 365 days a year, it would have food markets, space for affordable housing, and office space for metro rent free. 

I like @Buildtall idea for an observatory tower too.

I've always thought that this now unused design for a new tallest building in Denver would look really stunning here-

I also really love the observation tower idea at that location, it seems like such a no brainer with our tourism industry. I also think I remember somebody here mentioning the idea of drawing inspiration from the WSM radio tower with the diamond shape to create a really cool and unique design. You could even call it the "Record Needle" or something.

This reminds me of the bottom half of the Tokyo Skytree

Maybe it's just me, but I find nearly all the new Chinese towers to be f-ugly... gauche and absurdly overwrought.

I would like to see them tear down the art instillation in the KVB circle where "Sticks" is currently located and build a tall & skinny skyscraper that is round and colored the same blue/teal/orange color as the current art instillation.  It would be 500 feet tall and called "The Stick".  The primary function would be wig storage, similar to the Sunsphere in Knoxville.

For West End: Turning Torso in Malmö, Sweden. 

For CBD: I second Titanhog's appeal for the Chrysler Tower. I'd love to see a classical revival in Nashville.

Along the riverfront: St. Mary Axe in London. I think it would be cool to add darker colors to our skyline. Plus, I really love this tower, though I'm aware designs like these aren't everyone's cup of tea (British-inspired pun intended)

I agree with MLBrumby's opinion about many of China's new skyscrapers. I think they are a good fit for East Asian architectural style, but they would look tacky in the U.S. I also think they look cheaply constructed.

Yes, I'd love the Chrysler Building here, too. For what it's worth, the Viridian actually has some pretty slick Art Deco styling cues that I  like.

Also known as "The Gherkin" ! I love that tower.

I think a classic skyscraper with a spire, or pointed crown would make Nashville feel more historic and grand, rather than the little sleepy river town it started as. For example:  

The neo-gothic design of the Sherry Netherland, an apartment/hotel, in Manhattan, at the southeast corner of Central Park. 

Or perhaps the art-deco 70 pine street in the Financial District, one of the tallest towers in Lower Manhattan, that echos the boom-time building of the 1930s.

These are not "modern stunning towers" and I don't feel like Nashville really needs that. I would rather have a classic, old tower, making Nashville feel less "new money."

The Guardian Building in Detroit. If you think the Cathedral of Finance is beautiful on the outside, the inside will blow you away.

(The last one is a old photo, Bank of America is the bank tenant now. This is what I was able to find that didn't have scaffolding along the front, though.)

For years my favorite building in Detroit was the Book Tower. She's getting a scrub and some love now, but here's what she looked like before all that.

 

I'd kill to have either of these beauties in our skyline.

Along the same lines as the Book and Guardian in Detroit, I'd love to have the LeVeque Tower from Columbus. The massing at the bottom and the art moderne details all the way up until the top becomes a mix of really old and new, which I think would play nice with the Parthenon (albeit the top of the LeVeque is more Byzantine/middle-eastern). I think it's a cool and underrated US building.

That building is the only thing I remember about downtown Columbus, @dmillsphoto. Great choice!
