This would be a huge addition to the Packing District.

Developer proposes mixed-use project with brewery next to $480M Packing District from OBJ

"The redevelopment would include 95,000 square feet of office space, a 3,000-square-foot brewery, a 1,500-square-foot restaurant, 7,000 square feet of meeting space and more. The project is across the street from Orlando-based developer Dr. Phillips Charities' proposed 202-acre, $480 million Packing District project.

The unnamed project heads to Orlando's municipal planning board Dec. 17 for approvals."

North of the Packing District at Lee Rd., but big improvements coming to Trotters Park and Lake Fairview Park.

Sadly, the lake itself is toxic these days compared to when we swam there is kids. I do miss Peck’s concession stand (they owned the A&Ws in town so same menu but without the branding).

Oh my.

Put some plexiglass around it and some bench seating underneath the canopy, and you'd have a halfway decent looking, though somewhat oversized bus stop shelter....

This is so cool! It’s wonderful to see Dr. Phillips making a nod to their heritage in the Packing District.

I’ve long believed there should be some citrus trees included downtown (if we ever do some road diets, they could be included in the extra space, at the Bunker or City Hall or in the parks.

Maybe even a missile or two to represent Martin (they used to have those in front of the Sentinel - whether publisher Martin Andersen did that because he was trying to attract Brevard readers at the time, to show Orlando was on the cutting edge of technology with Martin’s arrival or in honor of his good buddy LBJ -or all three- is still an open question

Rumor has been floating of a new Publix in the Packing District. It now appears they have submitted plans the the City for a nearly 30k sqft store (smaller than usual) to be built during the 2nd phase of development (a couple years away).

That’s a tad larger than the CP, Eola or C’town stores. I wonder if they’re getting a Publix Liquors.

It says there is an attached 1400 sqft space suitable for a liquor store.

I incorrectly included that 1400 feet in my 30k total. The actual store size is 28,864- slightly smaller than CP.

Bungalower has a photo of the proposed grocery store:

It’s quite traditional which is appropriate, especially the use of bricks. If you look at all the retail Dr. Phillips did along OBT, W. Colonial Drive and downtown back in the ‘50’s, brick seemed to be a favorite material. For the most part, they were also sturdy enough to withstand nuclear attack, not unlike the old Western Electric phones you got from Ma Bell.
