Former US Representative Bob Clement is known for spearheading a now-defunct landport at Cummins Station, known as the "Clement Landport," that was conceived as the hub of a bustling regional passenger system in Nashville that would incorporate bus service, van pools and bicyclists.  From the outset, the landport struggled to draw activity and was later slammed by critics as a waste of $4.6 million in federal funds.

The other landport that was built is in the footprint of the convention center now I think. Either way it came down when that was built either for the CC or one of the hotels.

The clement landport was used for bus transfers until 10 years ago, or so. There is a bus stop (on Demonbreun) that is still in service today

MDHA has OK'd the concept plan and exterior designs for the garage portion (1,032 spaces) on the former Clement Landport site (west side of Cummins Station, facing Demonbreun Viaduct on the north), as well as Tower One (just to the south of Cummins Station on a surface lot).  A new rendering below. Groundbreaking is still scheduled for September.

I think its running a little behind now. Bos2Nash may be able to shed a little more light on this, but I dont look for a September groundbreaking right now. They are behind on the Land Port Demo as well too.

How backtracked is this project now? Last I heard was that it's been delayed quite a bit.

I asked Bos2Nash Saturday and he said there were investor delays. Seems that is a coomon thing from what I am hearing.

We are at the beginning of a global slowdown. Money is about to get more difficult to obtain.

This was posted in error!  Sorry!   Without realizing I had linked to the "More Information" story from the update on the Rutledge Hill (Printing House) hotel, I didn't check the date was from 2019!  So sorry! Unwarranted excitement on my part.  Duh! 

This project may still have a heartbeat after all.  MDHA has approved the Station District plan and design of the first residential Tower 1 (of a total of 4). Zach Liff says he plans to break ground on the garage by September. Stragely, he's still saying Towers 1 & 2 will stand on either side of the downtown (east) side of the proposed (and cxl'd?) Haven't been involved on the project from an architecture standpoint, but last I had heard the Landport demolition and parking garage construction was supposed to be the first phase and that is on a long hold.

My guess is with Leif's involvement with the Cannery property that will go first. If I recall from someone I thought they mentioned a redesign as well, but I'm not sure.

It'll definitely still happen eventually.  Way too valuable. I'm kinda glad nothing had fully started on this yet because everything will almost certainly be revised upward in scope now.  The amount of prime land that Liff has is incredible and it's a bit shocking that it's been totally quiet as long as it has been.  Could easily see 8-10 towers on all of this once it's fully realized.

^^^I'm  sorry but if Liff hasn't developed this land during the biggest boom in Nashville history...... Like I've said before,  just landscape the ugly parking lots!  Be a good neighbor!
