I have been saying this to myself for years.  As someone who worked in advertising, who is the agency that proposed this and why did First Citizens buy into it?  It's almost comical how big these people's foreheads are!  I want a bank, not an ad for acne cream!

They had Truist lit up in sky blue for a hot minute just now.  It’s the best scheme I’ve seen, and helps to mitigate the jarring signage somewhat.

^I saw that color in person and it makes the whole thing look 1000x better (for what it is).

The great irony to me is that the lighting truly accentuates the unique architecture of this building, but then is dumped on by the gaudiness of the sign.

It’s definitely the dimmest it has ever been tonight. I already think the purple does nothing for the building, but a very dim purple makes it not even noticeable. God I wish they would just get it together.

It’s underway. It’s under construction right down below me. ... I sent out a note to our construction/real estate guy to get an idea about when it’s expected to open. He won’t let me nail this down, so I’m going to say late summer, early fall. It’s going to be awesome. ... It’s going to be the talk of the industry. It’s two floors in this building. It’s on (an) iconic floor, which was the old original Bank of America trading floor.

 

So much for building a new tower across the street.

Truist Securities is based out of Atlanta (with no plans to change that) so minimal need for trading space in Charlotte. A quick search of the 849 people that list Truist Securities as their employer on LinkedIn show 440 based in Atlanta, 124 in New York, 49 in Charlotte, and the rest in smaller Truist locations. You don't need that massive trading space in Hearst for ~50 people so makes sense to re-purpose it as the tech and innovation center.

So much for building a new tower across the street. 

I heard from a reliable source a technology tower is still in the future works but they needed something fairly quickly and it would take 2 years maybe or longer to build a separate tower.

Just swung into uptown for first time in a while (gotta stock up on mexicali stout, don't you know). Beating a dead horse, but that signage is just so abhorrent. It's not going away. I'm not getting used to it. It's this big, ugly, nasty skid mark on Charlotte.

At least they have made the lights part of the community now. Its also good to know it won't always be "strip club purple" (its currently close to the same orange as the other buildings -- apologies for photography)

I have always thought of the trading floor at the Truist Tower looks like the Shuttle Bay of NCC 1701 Enterprise.  I have heard that Truist was going to make an indoor park in that space, and now, they have suspended large rectangular lights from the ceiling as part of the light show.  Anyone know anything about that?

Oh it's definitely the docking bay from any Death Star/space station in Star Wars
