Amazon had fallen off the radar when they announced to Nashville. Sometimes when it is dead quiet things are going to plan...

Gov. Lee will be meeting with senior executives of Oracle on the west coast next week regarding a possible large office in Nashville that would employ 1,000 initially, and could potentially triple that.   They would need 500,000 sq. ft. to begin with, and the ability to double that.  Many sources say that Oracle would want to own their own site.  Last May Oracle had officials touring Nashville looking at potential locales.  Music City is apparently one of several possible options for this new major office.

I know this might seem a little unrelated but it also says in this article that the governor is traveling to Washington State....could this mean that Amazon might want to expand further here? It could make sense with Oracle potentially coming here.

Article reads like it was “leaked” by the Gov’s office considering it said it was confirmed by a couple sources inside. That tells me this is a done deal and the Gov wants to be sure his involvement is known.

There wouldn’t be any confirmations if they feared Oracle was possibly going somewhere else. Just my two cents.

They like being near one another as it rises the Tide for everyone in recruiting talent but also to that point they’ll poach one another’s employees as needed.

It's a joke.  A few months ago we were all talking about Oracle taking the tall skyscraper across Church Street from Amazon's new buildings...and how Amazon wouldn't like that.   Then...a few days ago, it's announced that Amazon gets "rights of first refusal" on any new office buildings at Nashville Yards...and some of us joked that it was Amazon's way of keeping Oracle from that building.  Now...Lee is going to California to meet with Oracle.  It's all just a funny coincidence.  I doubt Oracle would really want to go in that building...but it's humorous to think of Amazon and Oracle in a cat-fight over a building...with each company making sure they build their building a foot taller than the other.

Oracle doesn't seem to care for downtown skyscrapers.  They are more like Apple in that they love those big suburban campuses (campusi?).  Oracle's U/C Austin Campus for 10K employees will consist of multiple buildings with 8-stories being their tallest.
