Tanks were used until the 1950s, but always had issues that revolved around outdoor temperatures. Modern high rises simply use pumps that have regulators on every floor. In the event of a fire (when there might not be power to a building), standpipes are used by fire departments to provide pressure for water to reach upper floors.

I am familiar with the brass standpipes at prominent locations of buildings. With a sign with a  Y to indicate connection.  I assumed this was for fire pumper connection.

was in the area for my first Tex Mex meal of the year.  from all angles.  the screening on the parking deck looks good I think better than some other towers recently built. 

quite a bit of ground floor retail in this tower on 3 sides.

The campus is huge and (pre-covid) filled to capacity, you probably need 3-4 more of these to move but I wouldn't be surprised if they opt to expand further in Charlotte if the building proves successful in attracting talent  They already have a number of floors in the Grant Thornton too that seem to be sticky.

I know.  I had interviewed for a job there years ago.   I really dislike suburban office parks.

I've really come to despise the hatchet job that Duke Energy does on these trees as they grow to intermingle with the lines.  I totally get why Duke Energy does this, but it's just an awful look.  Other major cities have riverfronts, bayfronts, oceanfronts, lakefronts.  We have our tree canopy, and that feature reflects most vividly among our tree-lined streets.  We desecrate that showing of our city's natural beauty with the Duke Energy mutilation program.
